Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Blake Givargidze. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Blake thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents have done many things right, but I think they did the best in pushing me at a very young age to play the drums. it is like they saw the talent in me before anyone else did. my mom always tells everyone this story about how when I was 3 years old I was playing the drums in the basement of the house we were in at the time and she thought it was my dad playing the drums but soon after my dad came home and she said: “you weren’t home ?” implying that she thought that it was my dad playing the drums in the basement. soon after that, they bought me my first drum kit and I have been at it ever since
Blake , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Blake Givargidze I am a professional musician and record producer. I have been playing the drums for as long as I can remember I started playing shows at the age of 15 and went on my first international European tour at the age of 15 as well. in the present time I am still playing the drums sort of religiously but I have also started producing my own music as well as making beats for other artists in the central Florida area. I have to say I am proud of all the accomplishments I have accomplished in the past but what I am most proud of is being able to express myself through my music and through collaborating with a bunch of very talented individuals that I surround myself with.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
that is a very complicated question because as an artist I am never quite satisfied if I know something can be better if not the best. I believe that one-way society can help artists is by initializing equal pay among streaming platforms so that it becomes a relatively balanced way to make a steady income as an artist.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the process. I love every second of producing a beat or playing the drums in the studio/creating drum parts/mixing I love all of it. I and my dad always say “it takes a special kind of person to be a musician” I never understood it until lately but now I know its because you have to love the grimness of the work that entails being a musician or you will not be able to stand on your own.
