Alright, Blake thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Hamilton Capital Partners was named after Alexander Hamilton, the architect of America’s banking and economic system. Alexander Hamilton served as the first secretary of the treasury and created America’s central bank; allowing for business promotion and the extension of credit.
Blake, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I launched my career in the financial industry in the Third-Party Administration space. Never heard of it? Most people haven’t,
TPA’s provide administrative services to ERISA-qualified plans (401(k), defined benefit plans, etc.). From establishing plan documents to filing 5500’s, a TPA firm is essential to a compliant retirement plan program. The day-to-day requires frequent interactions with business owners as well as the IRS, DOL, and ERISA specialists.
After building a robust book of business, my partner and I quickly realized there was a void that needed filling as it relates to wealth and asset management. Many of our 401(k) business owner clients were complaining about cookie-cutter investment advice they were receiving and only spoke with their investment advisor once or twice a year.
We launched Hamilton Capital Partners to provide clients with modern, forward-thinking asset management solutions that are both individualized and transparent. HCP was designed to be a one-stop shop for wealth management solutions.
Wall Street has always had a gray cloud hanging over it from bad actors. We strive to change that negative perception by being ultra-transparent, even when conversations relating to fees or investment allocation are uncomfortable.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Transparency. Having ongoing conversations with clients and prospects regarding their portfolio allocation and fee structures has made us a reliable source for financial reviews. We often serve as a second set of eyes to prospects as it relates to portfolio composition and fee analysis. By providing this service, trust is inherently built and maintained.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We are in constant contact with our clients. By providing services to a select group of high-net-worth families and individuals, pension plans, endowments, and foundations, we are able to build deeper, more meaningful relationships with our clients that allows us to provide services outside the scope of traditional wealth management.
