We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Blaire Winter a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Blaire, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
As an actor, especially in film, it sometimes feels unnatural to express different emotions repetitively and on purpose. I have learned over the years and from some amazing coaches that acting often is behaving more than it is pretending. Knowing your general body language, how your body moves naturally, as well as knowing your voice can all make a person’s acting a lot more expressive and effortless. I can definitely say that understanding your body and your voice is the key to a convincing performance.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
All my life, performing has been a special part of me. My mother was a singer, and all of my friends were dancers that danced with me almost every day. The stage was like a second home for me. When I was around eleven years old, I started modeling for dancewear companies alongside my ballet classes. I loved the camera, so soon after, I got signed into my first agency, and they introduced me to the film industry. Straight away I knew it was something I would want to do. The feeling of performing whether it be in front of a camera or on a stage will always be incredible to me and familar. Acting has welcomed me into a world of so many opportunities like travelling the world and meeting so many different people. Upon learning it, I have begun to understand myself and other people in ways I never thought I would be able to. I hold the world’s beauty fondly, and I always show that in my work. From the lace of ballet costumes to emotions on the big screen, beauty of our world can be seen all throughout film. But our world isn’t perfect, and I use to use the publicity of the film industry to broadcast awareness for social struggles that need addressing, as well as simply spreading kindness and love for the people in our lives. I am glad that as an actor I can be a part of something that gives others the opportunity to just slow down appreciate the beauty around us every once in a while, or get lost in an entirely different world just for the fun of it.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media plays a very important part in my career as a model and an actor. It is very helpful, with so much information, and because of this, it can also be overwhelming sometimes. Growing my audience on social media has driven me to go down paths I did not actually want to follow, and almost changed me into a person I am not. It is tempting to change who you are for the validation of other people, but I have learned this is exactly what makes you “fit in,” and fitting in is not something you want to do in a competitive industry that thrives on uniqueness. One thing that I always remember when creating new content is that you attract what you are. To attract an audience, it is best to have an idea of who it is- and who you are. Your audience could be people who love art and beautiful things and follow you to see your pictures, or they could be people that want your advice to become powerful individuals themselves. To anyone who is just starting out on a social media platform, having an idea of the audience you want to attract is the perfect start to making the right content for yourself and your followers.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I have many goals that inspire my work as a public figure. The world and the people in it mean a lot to me, and my presence on social media is intimate with them. I often look toward roles in film that promote a positive message to the public. Spreading kindness and promoting peace are two very significant life goals of mine. The world is precious, and it has so many beautiful things in it. With pictures and art, I am given the wonderful opportunity to share the beauty of our world and the creativity we are capable of as well.
