Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Blair Thielemier . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Blair thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
I’ve always had a bit of an entrepreneurial streak, so when I lost my job as a hospital pharmacist at six months pregnant with my oldest child, I took it as a sign to try to build something of my own. I realized pharmacy school had prepared me for employment, but not for running a business. I had no idea how to begin so I looked to the internet, LinkedIn specifically, to seek examples of other healthcare professionals who had built a consulting business.
I worked as an independent subcontractor for several years and was blogging about pharmacist-led clinical services on my professional website.
It wasn’t until I hired a business coach that I became more intentional with my online presence and the vision for the Pharmapreneur Academy e-resources.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After deciding to go ‘all in’ with my online brand, I began learning from and collaborating with other entrepreneurs. This led to the creation of the Elevate Pharmacy Virtual Summit, the very first online conference in the history of pharmacy.
Our first online summit in 2017 aimed to interview a diverse group of pharmacy leaders to inspire other pharmacists and share innovative strategies for advancing the profession. As an entrepreneur and busy mom of three, I believe in the power of virtual networking and professional development.
When the pandemic forced a global shutdown, our services were perfectly positioned for pharmacists seeking remote work opportunities as consultants.
I’m extremely proud of that body of work that continues to be a resource for pharmacists who are members of the Pharmapreneur Academy. After working with hundreds of pharmacists and thousands more who have benefited from my books, courses, summits, and coaching, I’m honored to be considered one of the most influential pharmacists in the United States and internationally recognized by the Arab International Pharmacists Conference.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I’ve always tried to put out brief and relevant information using LinkedIn as my primary platform. As trust developed, I connected with other pharmacists.
Over the years, many have shared that my positivity was an inspiration and a ‘breath of fresh air’.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I feel like I’m always in a pivot in one area of my life! Whether it is business, career, or life, my energy is always redistributing itself to stay in “balance”.
Recently, I’ve been through a difficult divorce which has taken a lot of my creative focus as I focus on supporting my children and myself.
Self-care is one of my biggest priorities, especially during a pivot!
