Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bk Phillips. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
BK, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
All of the “how’s”, in my life are just as must of a surprise to you as they were to me. I had no map for life or the one I have is full of unfinished roads. It took believing in myself to cure many of my pitfalls. Just set a path and pursue it as young and agressive as possible. I took forever to find my path.

BK, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My life is a product of necessity. I started designing clothing because I never found clothing I liked in my size growing up. After design clothing that fits me, It seemed natural to design clothing that not. only fit the buyer’s physical size, but their personality too. What we accept as normal doesn’t mean we have to wear ill-fitting clothing or pieces that diminish someone’s true self. I love’d seeing elements of my clients personality and incorporating details that they may not understand, but benefit from that detail. I used a vintage appeal as part of my brand. My look had the intention of creating sexual energy. Fashion to me was a visual sexual encounter. My designs, my acting and my writing are born from the desire to create a key or permission to travel mentally, visually or verbally. To ignite passion for any and all to explore their own desires, their own capabilities and be able to find their true self early enough to enjoy themselves.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Our lives are a road map to the ins and outs on what to do and not to do. I had to come to terms with who was responsible for the downfalls in my life. The answer is always me, the answer for all of us if you ask yourself the same question is yourself. If you can’t learn to stay out of your own way there is no reason to go into business.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Believe it or not, the collection of people I am now surrounded by. I have some the most creative, driven and beautiful people in my life now.
