We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful BJØRN. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with BJØRN below.
BJØRN, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Ever since the age of 12 I knew I wanted to be an actor. The feelings that you get, when you watch a movie, tv show, play, etc. Are incredible and the relationship that you get with an audience are unimaginable. I started acting at the age of 12 and I still do today. I’m currently a student at Suny Purchase where I received many of the fundamentals of acting, however I later attended another school called The Neighborhood Playhouse where I then learned the acting method of Meisner. I am currently still learning more skills on improving my acting skills and planning to get an acting agent, so I later perform in tv shows, movies, etc.
That thought of being an actor helped bring me to my other career of Djing. I have been a DJ for eight years now and it has been an incredible experience. I started djing at the age of 15 and learned the basics from a childhood friend. This childhood friend named Diego was at college at the time and he took me to many college parties. Colleges such as UCON, URI, Iona College, and so much more. Imagine a 15-year-old teenager Djing at places such as Frat parties. After I experienced the college life, I wanted to take my dj life further. A year later I then started djing at clubs in Manhattan and other local clubs. 2 years after that, I then started djing for proms, weddings, sweet sixteen, and so much more. This path has even made me speak to so many famous artists such as Loud Luxury. Currently, I am making house music and djing at local bars and clubs.
I always wanted to work for myself and later one day be a philanthropist so I can help others. I always saw myself as an entertainer. I never saw myself working a 9-5 job till the day I day. I love to live life my way.

I answered some of that in the last response on how I started my passion and careers in acting, personal training, and djing. However, I will mention the problems that I solved throughout my experience and the things I was most proud of.
The biggest issue that I delt with when I first started acting or any of my careers would be getting out of my comfort zone. Growing up was always insecure and always had self-doubt in myself. The thing is that I had start getting out my comfort zone because in any other careers I have to deal with people and do business with them. So, I had to force myself to speak in front of others or perform. I had to learn from my mentors and elders, how to speak like a perfectional and speak elegantly. I had to learn how be confident because confidence is key in all aspects of life. I had to come to a conclusion that I was worth something because if I don’t believe in myself or that I can bring something to the table. Then, no one will.
Including to that, I had to learn how to block out the voices from people who say that you cannot do it, or you’re not good enough. You need to believe in yourself because if you let those people take control of you, then you are basically proving them right. You need to block out all of that negativity and start thinking positive. Listen to only who those have either had experience doing it or a career path that you want.
Lastly, its a marathon NOT a sprint
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, there has been many books and videos that I have read and watched over the years that has impacted my life significantly. The first business book that I ever read was called “4 Hour Workweek” written by Timothy Ferriss. This book helps Entrepeneur’s escape the 9-5 Worklife and live anywhere in the world. I first read this book at the age of 15 and currently reading once again at the age of 23. This book helped me prove that the life that I always wanted can come true. I was never the individual to work in an office from 9-5 for 20-40 years of my life and hardly have vacation time. This book actually got me to see the business side for DJing & Personal Training. When I dj, I earn at least 2-3 times the money then I did, working 20-30 hours working at a restaurant.
For videos, I have watched many videos on things such as fitness, business, dating, etc. However, there was a youtuber that really stood out to me. His name is Mike Thurston, and he makes videos on fitness and traveling. He has the life that I really want. To be able to do something you love and to also travel around the world. Recently, I have spoken to him, asking for advice on how to get to a similar level as him. I am now currently taking his advice and I appreciate his advice dearly.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There have been many times throughout my life so far that I wanted to give up my career paths. There have been so many friends, family members, teachers, etc. That have put me down and say that I am not going to get to where I want to be. There have also been multiple incidents that people have said no to me. However, that is just life and the process of trying to become successful.
There was a moment in my life at the age of 21 that I thought myself hopeless. I thought at that age I would be rich and famous already but of course sometimes life doesn’t happen the way you want it to happen. I was studying business at the university of Baruch and I coming to a conclusion to take the easy way out. I was striving so hard to get a business degree and to work a 9-5 job because that is what people supposedly want you to do. However, I came to the conclusion that I only have one life and I am not going to waste it by getting this degree and letting people win. So, I decided to leave Baruch College because I knew that I rather make own business and be my own boss. I told myself that I wasn’t going back to college, until one moment happen. I spoke to an actor named Alexander Ludwig who is famous for many roles in his career but most famous for his role as Bjorn in the show Vikings (One of the many reasons why BJØRN is my stage name). He told me that if stay in the path of being an actor or dj and put in the work and learn everything about them, it will work out. I will never forget these words, “Once you stick around enough and grind it out, that succeeds.” He was totally right; he was the main reason why I went to Purchase College, dj at clubs, etc. Because all of that, I met so many famous celebrities, met so many new friends, travel the world, etc.
