We recently connected with Bj Carmichael and have shared our conversation below.
Bj, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I’ve always been considered to other people as having high confidence and very sure of myself. In response I would always say “don’t you feel the same about yourself”??? Even at my worst I need think my best. Thats negative can overtake your spirit if you don’t get a holt of it quickly. Everyone has something they would like to do differently or change or enhance a little more. That’s just the want of wanting to be perfect. There’s nothing wrong with that and with that being said.. it all starts with accepting appreciating and loving the you that you already have. Then discipline for the next level and ownership of that levels task because nothing worth having is easily received. Earnings take work and work takes discipline. My idea for the business starts just like that! SOCIETYSFINESTIAM and I’ll be a fool to think anything less. From the way I dress to the way I act to the word’s that cometh out of thy mouth! Will be the best you could ever hear, be blessed to receive as recognition from and appreciate the fact I appreciate you as such as well… SOCIETYSFINEST… Solving the problems of people thinking they need other people’s validation for there accreditation. Or needed fabrics of high end status just to be calculated as one of the haves rather than knowing you have and that’s why the fabrics need you to validate the brand! SOCIETYSFINESTIAM! ALL THE WAY. To the poetry, or short novels you may read that intrigued the mind of a time closer to you no further from me because you and I are one in the same… I couldn’t keep this energy to myself. I had to spread my wealth of self love and passion for loving people onto the people. I felt like that’s missing from society in a whole. My approach is as unique as it can be by simply being me and those who get it will and those who don’t will at some point.

Bj, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a advocate for expression… say what you feel so I can’t get misunderstood. I believe in being authentic as possible, take what you may from the situation and apply to better your outlook. I’m a fan of emotional maintenance. Unresolved emotions leads to new behaviors that manifest out of being overlooked. That’s pretty much how I landed into this industry. I’ve always been a person who looks to help and the culture of entertainment, clothing, literature are all avenues that lead to the consumer directly. SOCIETYSFINESTIAM LLC publishes books (poetry, short stories, erotic etc. Clothing, apparel for men, women and children) stamping the brand with the positive influence that solves the problems of a negative agenda. I am most proud of the journey and the people along this journey I’ve encountered whether it was for a reason, a season, a lesson or to get some checking about the direction of the company. Growth is apart of any process. Especially of you’re attempting to leave a legacy to remembered. I’ve to date published 3 books of poetry i.g Thoughts of the Mind, My Thoughts Your Feelings and Thoughts of A Lover Redefined. All available through www.societysfinestiam.com and Amazon. The clothing line is growing humble and appreciative. Also available through the website..

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Most and all of my funds came from being strategic. Put a little up here and there to get the llc, as I did my research on how and where to launch the brand. Working overtime, doing odd jobs whatever it took to out that dollar to that designated place to get the ball bouncing. Even with the mismanagement of funds and having to go back to the drawing board to redesign the blueprint. All the funds came from my pockets.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
When I tell you due dates and planned events roll around like rollie pollies! It’s almost all the time it seems like you’re not going to be ready for the date. Even with pre pre pre planning. Something will happen always and that’s how you know life is continuing learning experience that you can apply to business. As effective as you are the world you work in isn’t and everything has a progressive way of showing you that something’s are just better left not lost. Full circle it comes back. You must pay your obligations first then you take care of your end. Thats the boss creed. Staff depends of the monies from the work that’s completed. You need your staff to keep your business going.
