We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bird Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
BIRD, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
I don’t really take to many vacations but i will say to all photographers give yourself a break. Take time for yourself without the camera and enjoy a weekend or whenever to do other things you like doing or even just lounging around.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
What’s up everyone , My name is Bird Davis and my photography business is BirdsVisionPhotogphy . I took on photography as just a fun hobby to have but it wasn’t until I started actually being good at it and thats when I realized photography could be more than just a hobby for me. I started by experimenting with my camera, taking photos of my family members and everything else from landscapes to portraits and eventually began to receive positive feedback from friends and family.
As my skills developed, I realized I wanted to turn my passion into something more professional. I started to surround myself with other photographers in San Diego to help build my portfolio. Word started to get around , and before I knew it, I was booking clients and taking on paid projects. The response from clients and the joy I felt capturing their moments inspired me to KEEP GOING.
Now, 4 years later i have shot weddings, portraits, events, sports etc.], and I’m grateful to do what I love. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I feel like the most rewarding part of being a photographer/Creator is the positive feedback from clients and just those that have been following my journey.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think back on last year when i was going through a rough phase of just life. I went through a lot of major changes in my personal life that set me back and threw me off . Having to push through all that and still having to manage a business was tough but you can either SWIM or SINK and i wasn’t going to sink . The moment i seen a little bit of light i took off and never looked back.
