We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Binamrata Bhandari a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Binamrata, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
I choose not to offer explicit advice, as I trust that individuals possess an innate understanding of the guidance they seek within themselves. In my role as a coach, my purpose is to facilitate a journey of self-discovery for my clients, enabling them to reestablish a profound connection with their inner selves. Through this process, they can attune to their intuition and navigate their path guided by their own inner wisdom.
Having said that, allow me to share an encounter with my client who initially reached out after being drawn to the content I shared on Instagram. In our discovery call, she candidly expressed feeling broken and fatigued with life. In response, I reassured her that she wasn’t in need of fixing, as she wasn’t inherently broken. I emphasized that every individual is born whole. The fractures she perceived within herself were coping mechanisms formed during challenging life experiences, serving as survival strategies. It’s only when these internal parts are not in harmony that we feel fragmented and shattered. I conveyed to her the internal strength within, urging her to commit to a journey of self-healing. By bringing these disparate parts together, one can rediscover their wholeness and embrace life in its entirety.
Shortly, after our conversation, I saw tears welling in her eyes as we both embraced a profound silence. Eventually, she talked about a subtle internal shift. The weight she had been carrying seemed to lift, replaced by a newfound lightness. In that moment she made a spontaneous decision to embark on a transformative journey with me. Over the past six months of working together, I have witnessed her evolution as an individual, wife, and mother. As she recounts her achievements, I find myself moved to tears, having seen her transition from a place of victimhood to one of empowerment. She now expresses a deeper connection with her children, a deepened bond with her husband, and an overall love for life. Most importantly, she radiates a sense of completeness and wholeness.
I share this because, at times, what people truly need is acknowledgement and understanding, rather than immediate advice.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have always had a deep passion for health and well-being. My personal wellness journey, spanning over a decade, initially revolved around healthy eating and exercise. I thought it was working fine until it didn’t, prompting me to pause and reevaluate my approach to wellness. These introspective moments revealed a critical oversight – that I was completely excluding my emotional well-being, a realization with profound implications for my physical health. This realization marked the beginning of a transformative healing journey, a journey that enabled me to connect dots in my life. I came to understand the connection between mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Recognizing the interconnectedness of these aspects, I embraced the responsibility we hold in shaping our own lives.
As a wellness coach, I believe that true wellness is a personalized journey and that is where my approach stands out. I don’t believe in one size fits all when it comes to health and wellness. That’s why I center my coaching around my clients unique needs and goals. I am not about giving generic advice. I take the time to understand unique experiences, challenges, and aspirations each person has. By recognizing and embracing their individuality, I create a customized plan that resonates with them.
Understanding that healing goes beyond physical well-being, I integrate trauma-informed practices into my coaching. My focus is not just on the symptoms but on the roots of my clients’ well-being, acknowledging and addressing any past traumas that might be impacting their present. Together, we navigate a journey of healing that is sensitive, empowering, and transformative. As I mentioned earlier, wellness isn’t just about physical health; it emcompasses mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. My coaching integrates these facets, creating a holistic approach that fosters a balanced and fulfilling life. My client’s goals are the compass guiding our sessions. Whether they aspire to cultivate healthier lifestyle, manage stress or enhance overall well-being, we work together to define and achieve realistic objectives. My clients’ success is my success and they know that every step toward their goals is a celebration.
Most importantly, I believe that healing is a fundamental right, not a privilege. My coaching principles are rooted in the belief that no one should be denied access to the transformative power of wellness. That’s why I am committed to making my services accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. I understand that the path to healing may be hindered by financial constraints. In line with commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, I offer financial assistance to those who need it. I aspire to create a space where everyone can access the support they deserve.
No matter what problems my clients come to me for, I empower them to overcome challenges by going to the roots of the problem. My coaching goes beyond traditional mindset work. While mindset is crucial, I explore the emotional and energetic aspects of healing to provide a comprehensive approach.
In order to start eating healthy, one needs to have a healthy relationship with themselves and that translates to having a healthy relationship with food. When clients come to me because they want to start eating healthy, I guide them through adopting holistic nutrition practices, connecting with food seasonally and locally, and learning to eat according to their body’s unique needs. This approach ensures a sustainable and nourishing relationship with food.
At Wellnesswithbini, we address the roots of challenges, nurture holistic well-being, and guide you towards a fulfilling and purpose-driven life. I am most proud of my ability to hold space for clients from all walks of life.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In the darkest depths of my life, I found myself at rock bottom. It was the loneliest I have felt in my life. Each day was a struggle and I learned to force a smile while grappling with a heaviness within.
At that pivotal moment, the only beacon of light was my newborn cradled in my arms. In the midst of my own internal storm, and I discovered a reason to brave it all; my child. This fragile yet powerful connection became my lifeline, compelled me to grant life another chance. The desire to not only survive but thrive, to be a source of strength and health for my child, ignited a spark within me.
Choosing an unknown path, I embarked on a healing journey – a courageous decision that demanded a significant investment, both emotionally and financially. The road wasn’t easy, it came with arduous challenges and uncertainties, but proved to be one of the most transformative decisions of my life.
They say to gain something, one must be willing to lose something. In my pursuit of healing, I relinquished much – relationships, job, and even people. The losses were profound and the journey was far from easy. Amidst all of this, I discovered resilience I never knew I possessed. Through these trials, I emerged not only stronger but more authentic. In all of this, I found the greatest gift of all – I found my true self.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
In my quest for self-discovery and growth, I embarked on a transformative journey of unlearning. A process that required shedding layers of conditioning and beliefs that no longer served my authentic self. Of the many aspects of unlearning, breaking free from generational traumas has been the most courageous of it all. In the name of culture, I carried the weight of generational traumas. I made the conscious choice to liberate myself from these burdens and be the cycle breaker. Not just for myself but for my child and generations that follow.
I chose my well-being over conforming to outdated norms that no longer served the person I was becoming. In breaking the cycle, I also broke the silence that often surrounds generational traumas. By acknowledging and actively unlearning these patterns, I created a space for healing, a space where openness, understanding, and resilience can flourish. What started out as a journey for personal growth has now become my commitment to creating a healthier and more resilient foundation for family, friends, and my clients.
