We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Billy Noel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Billy below.
Billy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
Our ministry serves an underserved area which is a community in Houston, TX. known as Sunnyside. Just this past weekend we were able to bless over 180 families with turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday. During our annual fall festival we were blessed to pour into our community by providing a day of food, fun, games and prayer.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a person who just love people. I’m married to the love of my life Alycia and together we have four children (Billy III, Brayden, Bailey and Braya.) I’ve been the Lead Pastor of Love Fellowship Church for five years. I often say I don’t pastor just a church but I also am privileged to pastor a community. I can’t do anything without the the backing and support of a church that really believes in the vision that God gave me. The wonderful people at Love Fellowship know my heart for the people and help support because they want to see everyone better as well. This is who we are collectively.
We are a fellowship of Believers that strives to Minister to the total man “Producing Whole People in a Broken Society,” by the Power of God’s word.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Love Fellowship is a ministry that provides spiritual guidance and support to the body of Christ, our community and nations across the world. Our mission is to minister to the to the total man “Producing Whole People in a Broken Society.” We have taken hold of the promise and will continue the Great Commission before us!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Like everyone else, during the COVID-19 pandemic I had to develop a more outward focus. Everything was shut down and in a sense I was robbed of what I feel I do best. So I hit the ground running full speed. I began to be more active in the schools in our community. We’ve developed relationships with some coaches and teachers that allow us the time to mentor and disciple students in our local area. We’ve seen a lot of growth in the people we have been able to come into contact with. The pandemic allowed us to pivot and look toward an outward focus and we’re seeing wonderful results because of it.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of our members by the name of Sandy Johnson has an amazing testimony and story. I believe it’s her story that drives her to want to see the better in people no matter where they are. Her story gives me hope that the same God that delivered her and brought her out of her situation can do the same for anybody. That’s why I go as hard as I do for reaching people and loving on people no matter how bad it seems. Sandy leads our homeless ministry and we are a blessing to so many people through her and that ministry.
