Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Billy Bitter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Billy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
They instilled the importance of having a strong faith at a young age. They were fully committed in raising all six of their children to play lacrosse. They drove us all over the eastern coast to practices, camps and games to compete against the best players.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Billy Bitter and I started playing lacrosse when I was 5 years old. I grew up in Manhasset, NY where lacrosse is the most popular sport in town. We were fortunate to have great coaches at a young age and our rec program was well run. I play lacrosse at Manhasset High School and did 5th year of High School at Deerfield Academy. I then went on to to play collegiate lacrosse at the University of North Carolina where I earned first team All American honors twice and second team once. I was awarded ACC Player of the Year in 2010. I then went on to work for Cascade Maverik Lacrosse, the #1 manufacturer in the sport, from 2011 to 2021. While working at Cascade Maverik Lacrosse, me and my brother EW launched a lacrosse tournament and camp business where we host boys and girls lacrosse players from all over the country. My wife and I were married in 2015 and have 3 daughters. We live on Daniel Island.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I have been in the sport for my entire life and I played competitively at a high level. I learned the fundamentals of balancing school work while competition against the collegiate programs in the country. I consider myself to be patient when I teach the game and that becomes very helpful when starting to develop players at the younger age.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I left Cascade Maverik Lacrosse in 2021 and launched my own private lacrosse training business. It was a great decision as it has given me a lot more flexibility with my schedule and to spend more time with my girls.
