Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Billie St. Amant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Billie, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
When you google the word hero the definition is “a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” My hero is my husband, Noah. He is the foundation of my business, my best friend, at times my personal therapist and so much more beyond all of that. Noah has taught me to never give up on my dreams because he’s always been there rooting for me from the sidelines, he has taught me patience and gratitude and shown me that I can do way more than just what I set my mind to. Noah has greatly influenced the journey of my business because he was the one who made it possible for me to start it all. My husband bought me my very first camera, had attended so many of my sessions to lend a helping hand, built countless props for photoshoots, events, etc. All the while Noah works a full time job, is an AMAZING husband, dog-dad, friend, son and brother. He’s my hero who never gets the credit he deserves but he’s so worthy of all of the praise.
Billie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well hey there, I’m Billie! The owner of Rusty&Sage Photography. Im a full time wedding and couples photographer. I got started in the photography industry while I was planning my own wedding in 2019. My now husband bought me my first camera and I never looked back. I have faced many challenges and obstacles but not a single one was ever able to hold me back from doing what I love and achieving my dreams of working in the wedding industry which had been a passion of mine long before I got engaged. I simply love, love. I love human connection, touch, and the way a picture can make a person feel a thousand emotions at once. I am known for doing fun, creative, and unique photoshoots. If my couple isn’t laughing, loving on one another, and having the time of their lives I’m not doing a good enough job. My sessions are meant to feel like date nights to my couples, something that feels the most YOU, not a Pinterest idea, not someone else’s photoshoot that we’re pulling ideas from but simply ours. I’m proud of the energy I can bring to a session, being my couples hype gal (and third wheel) and most of all being able to make them feel like they can be themselves and that nothing is off limits.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been WORD OF MOUTH! Giving my clients an experience of a lifetime and them telling their friends and families about me and then being able to provide an excellent service to them as well! This has always been what has worked for my business and I love that people feel comfortable enough to recommend me. Its always such a great feeling to know what I’m doing is working.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Providing an excellent service an experience, going above and beyond, being understanding of my clients and harvesting in and building a relationship with them instead of just seeing them as “clients” because they really do mean so much more to me.
