We were lucky to catch up with Bill Bradley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bill, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
A TON of confidence , tunnel vision mindset , fall down 7 times get back up 8. I think success is different for each person, someones success can easily be someones failure. This is where tunnel vision plays part. Knowing that you’re on the right lane and eventually , (it might take some time ) but you’re going to succeed and win at the end. Your’e also going to need a ton of confidence in yourself , skills , ability and most importantly decision making. ADD a drop of undeniable relentlessness and poof – success
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am BlackSolvent Digital Marketing, a company that provides comprehensive marketing and IT support to businesses. Our services include, but are not limited to, Hulu ads, billboard advertising, social media management, consulting for new businesses, cybersecurity, software and website development, and management. In 2019, I began researching heavily about digital marketing, even though I didn’t have much knowledge on the subject at the time. I was dedicated to learning as much as possible and would spend hours in front of the screen, taking notes. With the elementary knowledge I had acquired, it was time for me to start my own business. I had always been good at sales, so I knew that it was possible for me to get my first client. I spent the first week of the month going door-to-door, pitching my services in person until I finally landed my first client. Fulfilling that first contract was a tough challenge, as I had to figure out the system and delegate tasks to my team. But, looking back, I realize that those were the fundamental lessons that helped me build my business.
I am extremely proud to say that I am now in my 3rd year of business and have seen many businesses start and fail, mainly due to a lack of effort. I am deeply invested and determined to make my business a success, and I believe that it is essential in the bigger picture. One thing I want to leave with the community is to highlight the importance of investing in yourself, believing in yourself, and truly being able to say that you can do whatever you put your mind to.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Advertising is a powerful tool for reaching new audiences and driving growth for businesses. While organic marketing can be effective, it may not always be enough to achieve the desired results. By advertising daily with different goals, such as website views, likes, and profile views, businesses can attract a diverse mix of people who are more likely to engage with their content and visit different sub-links. Additionally, when people see that others are interacting with the brand, they are more likely to follow suit.
To maximize the effectiveness of advertising, it’s important to target those who are either a shade or 2 away from your niche market, or who are already part of your target market. In my case, I am targeting CEOs, marketing managers, and general managers. To reach a global audience, I use analytics and keywords related to these positions to find potential interests.
For social media platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter, I utilize a blue checkmark to improve my ranking and use scheduled AI posts using ChatGPT and Constant Contact to schedule a post every hour. For TikTok and YouTube Shorts, I take advantage of the fact that Google and YouTube are competing for my content, so I post on both platforms.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The idea that “the customer is always right” is not always accurate. It’s important to remember that as a business owner, you have the right to establish boundaries and make decisions that are best for your company. I started my business for the freedom and not just for the money. I didn’t want to have to answer to someone else for when I could come in or leave.
When it comes to clients, it’s important to have a mutual relationship. I prioritize building positive relationships with my clients, and many of them are more than just business associates – we also hang out and do things outside of work. However, I’ve also learned that it’s not always possible to work with every client, and that’s okay. It’s important to remember that the customer is important, but you are important too. Mutual respect is key in any business relationship.
