We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Big Kat Burgers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Big Kat Burgers below.
Big Kat Burgers, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission the drives your brand?
We just wanna cook good burgers.
It’s really that simple for us. The three of us, Sean, Bryce and Myself enjoy hangin’ out with each other and cooking food. We enjoy eating, trying new recipes, and sharing ideas. Collaboration is the key to our success and we’ve leveraged the power of three to get to where we are today.
The internet has taught us that there are incredibly talented people everywhere. It’s no secret that you can get a delicious burger a million different places, especially in Fort Worth. It’s our atmosphere and the energy you get from the truck when you come and eat with people who are there and eager and willing to serve you. In an old revitalized warehouse district in South Fort Worth known as “Near-Southside”
In a world of cookie-cutter corporate eateries and ” turn em’ and burn em’ ” style fast cooking, we slow things down a little bit and pay attention to quality, freshness, and detail. And if you stick around long enough you’ll even hear our eclectic mix of music and maybe an obscure 90’s movie reference or two.
That’s the cool part of electing to shop with Owner/Operators and Small Business. There’s something about being served by someone who wants to be there by choice, be it service or quality, instead of someone who is just there for a paycheck.
Big Kat Burgers, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We’ve been told our reputation proceeds us. BUT! If you haven’t heard of us before, we are ‘Big Kat Burgers’ We are 3 Gentlemen who have known each other since 3rd grade. With experience and disdain with “Factory Cooking”.
We are returning back to a small focused market with an attention to detail. For us right now that means fantastic, hand-ground patties and delicious hand-cut fries.
You can get anything from a Good Ole Fashion Cheeseburger to our more experimental ‘Peanut Butter Boi’, which is our all-beef patty with peanut butter, bacon, seasonal alcohol infused jams and our in-house made Candied Jalapenos. Sounds crazy, but we were fortunate enough to take best “Non-Traditional Burger” with the Fort Worth Weekly in 2020 with it.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a food Truck, your bread and butter is fairs/events/festivals/catering. When 2020 and covid came around, it took all that away. No on was going out, no one was at work.
We quickly realized that people who were accustomed to going out to restaurants, which were also shut down, were suddenly finding themselves cooking 7 days a week. We linked up with HoA’s and LifeStyle Coordinators that are charged with running neighborhood associations and found ourselves parking in neighborhood parking lots.
People seemed very pleased with the novelty of being able to walk a few blocks to a delicious Owner Operated food truck and needless to say it took off pretty well. We went from being a sideshow at an event to the main attraction.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Attention to quality and detail in a serious no BS kind of way, along with friendly an inviting atmosphere. What you see is what you get with us and we cook food that we would want to eat. That, I think, is where the best food comes from. Too often you see people chasing money and just trying to adapt to whatever they think everyone else wants them to do.
That passion you put out, when you’re doing what YOU want to do, is noticeable. People hear it in the way you talk and they notice it in the way you act and they taste it in your food too!
