We recently connected with BIG Honey and have shared our conversation below.
BIG, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have wanted this my entire life! I used to have dreams I was performing on stage in a large arena! I used to sing Whitney on my broomstick dreaming of being an entertainer
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started with writing and landed on managing, developing, casting models, and a variety of other roles in the entertainment industry. I went through a very hard break up and began to get in touch with music again to comfort me. I came across so many artist that inspired me in that moment, NEW ARTIST! Like Lady London, Lola Brooks, lots of New York girlies in addition to my home inspiration Goddess out of Las Vegas! After going through my own experience and seeing how this music moved me I decided that I was gonna do it also. I want to inspire the world with my most NATURAL gift and that’s MUSIC!!! Now that I’m doing it I believe it’s clear as day that this is what I should have been doing ALL ALONG!!!
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think the only thing that a non-creative can get misconstrued is my LOVE for God!!! Not understanding that because I speak from my own experience doesn’t mean I serve or love God any less!!!! I can’t wait to get the platform where I can speak to the masses because I want everyone to know God knows WHO YOU ARE!!!! You have to prove nothing to ANYONE concerning your relationship with him!!!! I pray before I write and I trust the process! I pray when I wake up! I pray when I have everything I pray when I have nothing! I have all this confidence, all this talent, all this PEACE because he is my priority and I could understand how it could perplex the average consumer but hey….listen to the music as art and understand some of it I write from experience some of it I write from the vantage point of just being blessed and anointed in the area of CREATIVITY! But I love the Lord full heartedly and it will show but never lean on your own understanding when it comes to someone ELSES personal relationship with Christ.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
All I have to say about supporting artist is that SO MUCH of it is FREE to do!!! I’m never “so cool” that I can’t SHARE-LIKE-TAG something for someone in need of support!!!! Blows my mind how the people that WANT support are extremely selective when it comes to the smallest things and its directly connected to EGO and insecurity and it’s disgusting! I support some stuff that I don’t even like because WHY NOT!!!! You may not be an artist you may just want your supervisors support in getting a promotion but bottom line is we ALL need it so we should ALL give it as MUCH as possible
