We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bianelys Javier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bianelys, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I would say that all of my projects are meaningful because all of my songs serve a purpose for me at the times they are written. It is almost like a form of therapy for me because I am releasing my stories to the world, and it’s a way for me to connect with people.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Bia Javier, and I’m a singer-songwriter from Lawrence, Massachusetts, proudly raised by Dominican immigrant parents. Music has always been a part of who I am, and my journey led me to Boston, where I studied at Berklee College of Music. There, I not only honed my craft, but also built lasting friendships that have evolved into a strong, collaborative network of talented musicians I’m now blessed to work with.
As an artist, I blend R&B and Latin influences to celebrate my Dominican heritage while honoring my deep love for soul music. I write songs that are vulnerable, honest, and joyful—music that reflects my life experiences and invites others to connect through shared emotion. Being bilingual in English and Spanish allows me to create songs that carry a Caribbean ambiance while remaining accessible to listeners from all backgrounds.
One of the biggest honors of my career so far has been being named a GRAMMY Voting Member for the Class of 2025. I’m also incredibly proud to have received the Berklee City Music Scholarship and to have had my work featured on platforms such as Telemundo, BuzzMusic LA, Spark FM, Major Stage, and Sofar Sounds. Recently, I had the privilege of performing at Boston’s Art & Music Soul (BAMS) Festival 2024, sharing the stage with Grammy Award-winner RAPSODY, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Xavier Omär.
What sets me apart is the way I use storytelling, culture, and emotion to craft songs that feel both personal and universal. I want my music to make people feel seen, uplifted, and inspired. My ultimate goal is to pursue my artistry full-time, keep creating from the heart, and turn my reflections into music that truly resonates with my audience and new listeners.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most pivotal and transformative moments in my life was becoming a mother. Experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety firsthand taught me a level of resilience I never knew I had. I had always heard other women speak about the emotional challenges that come after childbirth, but I didn’t truly understand the depth of it until I went through it myself.
Even with the love and support of my family and partner, I felt lost in the transition. I was overwhelmed by a fear of missing out—as if the world around me was moving forward and I was stuck in place, unsure of who I was anymore. I loved my daughter deeply, but I also craved a sense of connection to myself—to the version of me I had always known.
Over time, I realized I wasn’t supposed to return to the “old me.” I was evolving into a newer, stronger version of myself. Letting go of who I was before allowed me to embrace who I was becoming—not just as a mother, but as a woman and artist.
That chapter of my life inspired one of my recent songs. It became a space where I could process my emotions and share not only my story, but the stories of so many women who walk a similar path. I’ve learned that while the postpartum journey can be incredibly difficult, healing is possible when we give ourselves grace, do the inner work, and remember that we are more than capable.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
For me, the heart of my creative journey is all about connection. I want people to feel something when they hear my music—whether it’s through real, vulnerable stories or fun, uplifting moments. My goal is to create songs that speak to the human experience in all its complexity.
Beyond that, I dream of seeing my music placed in films and television—bringing scenes to life and deepening emotional impact through sound. I also aspire to become a prominent songwriter for other artists in the industry. I believe in my voice, my storytelling, and my ability to craft lyrics that resonate, and I’m committed to doing the work to bring that vision to life.
