Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bianca Stitts. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bianca, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
I would change several things about the education system, but the one(s) I would like to highlight today are Curriculum & Environment. Educators are effortlessly the most underappreciated careers you could have today in 2023. Add that to the oblivious Administrators that are no longer in the classroom- yet insist on changing the (poor)grading system and constantly promoting scholars that are on average 1-2 grade levels behind and it’s a recipe for a burnout. Interventions for these scholars are no longer enough and we are failing them by constantly moving them along while they lack basic grammar and mathematical skills. I have plenty of stories to share but I will refrain today- just know that I always want what’s best for the children and it hardly often aligned with the administrative expectations for the sake of numbers.
Bianca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Of course! My name is Bianca Stitts and I am the owner of Resilient Learner’s Academy (child care provider). I accept ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age, and we approach the Whole Child by way of engaging curriculum, physically challenging environments, and social emotional learning. At RLA we pride ourselves on being an extension of our families’ communities and keeping our scholars SAFE. We are open Monday-Fridays and operate on the public school system schedule (except for summer).
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Starting RLA was the scariest thing I have ever done in my life. Walking away from the stability of regular paychecks and health insurance, had me constantly questioning whether I was making the right decision. I have a very strong support system by way of family, friends, and associates; but when I opened I only had two scholars enrolled. I only had 2 scholars for a few months and while it was a truly trying time in my life, I know God was preparing me for increase and not just financially. I learned to manage what I had, how to manage my surroundings and utilize the resources that are here and meant for my good. After the holidays things began to pick up for me business wise and are still on the rise. I learned to be humble throughout all stages of growth because the lows are what make you more appreciative of the highs.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social Media is so tricky because while it is beneficial, it is extremely time consuming (especially as a business owner that wears all the hats in the business). Consistency and Quality are very important and once thing I am sure to do when posting is keep the content I am sharing as authentic as possible. Working with toddlers and preschoolers is messy and loud most of the time. I don’t believe in posting “cookie cutter” content because this is no cookie cutter establishment. The scholars her thoroughly enjoy being here and growing day by day. My advice is to keep the quality of the video pristine while being raw and authentic! You will attract the audience you truly desire to interact and do business with while creating solid relationships.
