We were lucky to catch up with Bianca Postel recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bianca, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
Passion! I stand strong to this, because although I have many passions, there will always be ONE that keeps you going. It took me many years and experiences to understand this. It is ok to have more than one passion, but you must distinguish which one fuels your soul through passion.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Naturally, I am a creative. I have created all my life from as far back as I could remember. From those 90’s spiral art thingys to the splat art wheels, to making friendship bracelets. But, let’s be honest, who didn’t do all that, right? Although I focused willingly on math and sciences all through schooling, something always drew me back to creating. I’ve done all kinds of performance arts as a child thru high school, to concentrating on visual arts throughout my collegiate career. I’ve tried many creative outlets, and finally found my home in the photography, hair & makeup industry. I do have side hobbies that are artistic such as painting custom terra-cotta planters for all you plant moms and dads. (follow me on ig: @theartsyplantlady). This small hobby actually took off as a small business almost immediately during the covid/pandemic. And I also love participating in local art festivities such as the Via Colori Chalk Art Festival. So as you can see, my creative resume is pretty extensive and for many years I tried to commit to a “steady” M/F 9-5 job, but it trully isn’t for me, nor is it for everyone. I had to learn that it was completely ok to not fit into a certain work environment even though society has pressured us to believe the only way to be successful is to conform to corporate America. Well here I am, after many years, trials and errors, I’m finally considered a small business owner. As of April 1st (no April Fools joke here), BPostel Artistry became a registered business and to be my own boss has truly been a blessing. And I’m only getting started!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Consistency is key. Social media is a full-time job within itself! And what many do not know about small businesses is that more than likely the business is run by just that ONE person. So in my case I had to learn what ANY audience was attracted to. Then I had to bring in my graphic design skills to promote not only my work but specials, announcements, and just posts/stories to communicate to whatever audience was viewing my works. Algorithms for all these social media apps are such a joke. We get it, not everyone chooses to risk their comfortability to begin to do what they actually love to do and get paid for it. So why make it harder for the entrepreneur to succeed?

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Heck yes!! And I could not be more happier. As mentioned before I had tried many job to get by and make ends meets, but was never happy! My mental health became pretty severe over the years due to simply the natural stresses of what is supposed to be considered life. I couldn’t take it much longer. I put myself first and chose what would make me happiest, everyday, not just some days. I had always done makeup, hair and photography consistently as a side job for the last 6 years and just decided that its something I will never get tired of. Taking that leap of faith really did scare me because I didn’t have a big clientele whatsoever, but I kept doing what I had to do to strive!! As my grandma calls me, I’m a survivor! I’ll always figure something out to make it work. Pure hustler blood runs through my veins. Not quite sure where that comes from, but I’m proud to be who I’ve become. Especially when I had been doubted and unsupported for so long. Thanks to all those who have stuck by my side – your loyalty doesn’t go unseen!
