Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bianca Palmer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bianca, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope my legacy consists of a pathway created for women to flourish. I dont consider myself a feminist, but I do believe women should have just as much respect and equality in the workplace as anybody else.
Bianca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I grew up in a very religious household. My parents were active in the church and still are to this day…my father being a minister and my mother being a missionary, respectfully. I have one brother and one sister in which my sister is the only one with kids. Our household wasn’t “super strict”, but the rules were not loose either. Outside of being taught to keep God first, we were also taught that education is an important tool to have in order to navigate this life. So, in 2007 I graduated from Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Texas, then I went on to attend Sam Houston State University, also in Huntsville Texas where I pursued a degree in General Business Administration. Later on, I attended Boston University where I obtained a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. During that time, I became a Dallas Police Officer which I did that for about 5 years, then I left and went to the Texas Department of Transportation as a Compliance Investigator. I am one of 9 investigators for the entire State of Texas in which we investigate fraud, waste, and abuse.
With my experience that I obtained over the years, I used that as motivation to open Monét Investigations, LLC, a private investigations company. I figured that I could do the same work on my own at my own pace and on top of that, it’s not a lot of people in this industry who look like me that are doing the same thing. I wanted to be the person that changed that narrative. My investigations company is fairly new, but the types of services my company covers is familiar territory for me. Even though I have a plethora of experience, I’m still learning. To me, there’s always something new that I can add to my palette.
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
When I first began marketing for my business it consisted of what I like to call “gum shoe promoting”. I told myself that I would get out in the field and pass out business cards to inform people on what I do. I was definitely nervous, because I didn’t know what the reaction would be with me just coming in and introducing myself. So, I took the risk and introduced myself to about 8-10 businesses in one day. I was hoping for a call back and one person reached out to me wanting to get something done. It may not mean much to alot of people but it was a relief for me that my marketing venture worked.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I would say that my experience allowed me to build my reputation within this market. Granted I don’t know everything and I’m still a work in progress, but it would have to be my prior experience and hardwork that has aided to me being able to do my investigations properly.
