We were lucky to catch up with Bianca Modo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bianca , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Building a Legacy: Empowering Girls and Young Women to Stand Boldly
As a society, we are finally starting to listen to the voices of girls and young women. With movements such as #MeToo and Time’s Up, we are starting to take steps toward ending the cycle of sexual violence that has plagued our society for far too long. But as we work towards justice for survivors, we must also build a legacy of empowerment that will ensure girls and young women can stand boldly in who God called them to be.
At the heart of this legacy is recognizing that every girl and young woman has inherent worth and value. This worth and value do not come from her appearance, accomplishments, or relationships. Instead, it comes from the fact that she is a beloved child of God, created with purpose and intention. When we fully embrace this truth, we can stand boldly and confidently in who we are and pursue our passions with everything we have.
Unfortunately, many obstacles stand in the way of girls and young women being able to embrace their worth and value fully. One of the biggest obstacles is the prevalence of human trafficking, which destroys lives and hope. Survivors of human trafficking often struggle with trauma, PTSD, and a sense of hopelessness that can be difficult to overcome.
This is where our legacy of empowerment becomes especially important. We must not only work towards ending human trafficking but also create spaces where survivors can heal and thrive. Every survivor of human trafficking deserves a chance to pursue her passions and dreams, to stand boldly in who God called her to be, and to know that she is loved and valued for who she is.
I know firsthand the power of forgiveness and healing. As a survivor of sexual trauma myself, I have been able to use my own experiences to inspire others to forgive and heal. I know overcoming trauma and pursuing our passions with everything we have is possible. I hope that through my example and the many other survivors, we can build a legacy that genuinely empowers girls and young women to stand boldly in who God called them to be.
In conclusion, building a legacy of empowerment is a personal and a community effort. It requires us to recognize and affirm every girl and young woman’s worth and value and create spaces where trauma survivors can heal and thrive. As we work towards ending human trafficking and creating a more just and equitable society, let us remember the importance of empowering and uplifting every person we encounter. Together, we can create a legacy that truly changes lives.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
It all started with a passion for storytelling. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of stories to connect people and create meaningful connections. As a young girl, I spent countless hours lost in the pages of books, imagining myself in far-off lands, having incredible adventures, and learning valuable lessons along the way.
As I grew older and embarked on my professional journey, I found myself drawn to the world of marketing and branding. This even inspired me to move to Paris, France, to study luxury brand management in graduate school. I realized that my love for storytelling could translate into helping businesses and thought leaders create compelling narratives that would capture the hearts and minds of their target audiences.
But as I worked with more and more clients, I noticed something troubling. Many of them didn’t truly understand the foundational elements of building a brand. They believed a great logo and a slick website were all it took to attract their ideal clients and stand out in the crowded marketplace.
But the reality was far more complex. Without a deep understanding of their target audience, unique value proposition, and brand’s overall positioning in the market, these businesses were destined to struggle.
And that’s where I come in. At Brand Build Consulting, we’re not your typical branding agency. We’re your partners in uncovering and communicating the unique aspects of your brand. We believe that a great brand is visually appealing and strategically designed to attract the high-ticket clients you want to work with.
What sets us apart is our holistic approach to branding. We don’t just focus on one aspect of your brand, such as your logo or website. We take a comprehensive approach to your brand strategy, brand imagery, and content planning to help you establish a powerful and profitable brand without feeling “salesy.”
We believe that branding is all about storytelling. We’ll help you craft a compelling narrative that speaks directly to your ideal clients, highlighting your unique strengths and positioning you as a thought leader in your industry.
What I’m most proud of is our ability to help clients build not just a brand but a brand that truly resonates with their target audience. We’ve helped countless businesses and thought leaders establish themselves as authorities in their fields, attracting high-ticket clients and creating meaningful connections with their audiences.
If you’re looking for a partner who will help you build a brand that’s attractive, captivating, and genuinely compelling, look no further than Brand Build Consulting. We’d be honored to help you on your journey to success.
I’m also the Founder and Executive Director of the Bianca Modo Foundation. As I sit here and reflect on how the Bianca Modo Foundation came to be, I am reminded of one of the most life-changing moments in my life. It was a moment that instilled in me a passion to create real and lasting change in the world, and one that would eventually lead me to found a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower and bring global awareness to girls and young women prone to becoming or have been victims of human trafficking, the Bianca Modo Foundation.
After watching movies and talking to survivors of trafficking, I researched and reached out to organizations that helped combat human trafficking and soon realized that although there were organizations out there, they did not have programs that were geared toward survivors’ empowerment, deliverance, AND turning them into high-functioning leaders within their communities. We were determined to fill this gap, so the idea behind the Bianca Modo Foundation was born.
One of our most significant programs, the World Against Trafficking Art Exhibition, was created to bring global awareness to human trafficking. The exhibit, held in the historic Underground Atlanta, is divided into four sections: the journey, the trade, the aftermath, and the hope. We wanted to tell the real and raw stories of those who had survived trafficking, and we wanted to do it in a way that made it real for those who felt like trafficking and the abuse of women did not affect them.
Art has the power to evoke emotion and move people in ways that mere words may not, and that is why we wanted to bring an art exhibition to society that tells the raw and true stories of those who have survived in a manner that makes them feel like they are immersed in the trauma themselves. We don’t hold back or sugarcoat anything; we want visitors to feel the pain and devastation that trafficking survivors have gone through.
The World Against Trafficking Art Exhibition differs from other anti-trafficking programs because we focus on empowering survivors and creating opportunities beyond surviving instead of only providing them with temporary aid … leading them to thrive as a result. We aim to help young women who have been victims regain their confidence, so they can start their own businesses or learn how to attain a higher-paying career. We want them to have the power and confidence to live their desired life.
Through the Bianca Modo Foundation and the World Against Trafficking Art Exhibition, along with other programs, we hope to bring real and lasting change to the lives of those affected by this industry. We are proud to say that we are not just providing temporary aid but equipping survivors with the necessary tools to empower themselves and pave the way for a brighter future.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
As a young woman, I was always fascinated with social media. When my friends and family introduced me to various platforms, I was excited to create my own page and share my life with the world. In hindsight, I didn’t have any real strategy in mind, but I noticed that more people started following me as I shared more. It started with just a few friends and then their friends, and soon I had strangers following me too.
My social media presence was little more than a fun hobby for years. I enjoyed sharing my daily life and seeing what others were up to. But as I grew older, I realized I could leverage my presence and build an audience that would follow me as I pursued my passions.
The first step was to identify my new target audience. My early followers were primarily friends and family, but as I began to create content around my passions, I needed to target a new demographic. I began to research what type of content resonated with people who were interested in the same things I was, and I worked on creating content that would appeal to them.
As my audience grew, I noticed that engagement wasn’t always consistent. But I kept creating content I loved, and I noticed that even if a post didn’t get many likes or comments, I would still get messages from people who appreciated what I was sharing.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the years is the need to be intentional about my social media strategy. Every post, story, and video are all pieces of my brand, and they need to be cohesive and strategic. To do this, I take the time to plan my content in advance and think about how it fits into my overall brand message.
Another important lesson is the need to remain authentic. I know what I value and my purpose and use those to guide my content creation. It’s important to stay true to yourself and your message, even if it doesn’t always resonate with your target audience.
If you’re just starting to build your social media presence, I advise staying consistent and focusing on creating content that resonates with your target audience. Remember, social media is just one part of your overall brand strategy, so don’t put all your eggs in one basket. But with time, dedication, and a willingness to adjust and pivot as necessary, you can build an audience that loves and engages with your content.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
As a brand strategist and corporate speaker, I have traveled worldwide, sharing my knowledge and expertise with various organizations. However, my success did not come overnight. It was a long journey of perspiration, dedication, and hard work. I built my reputation in the industry by committing to networking, continuous education, securing media and press opportunities, and contributing my thoughts through various platforms.
Networking was a key component of building my reputation. I joined local, national, and global organizations relevant to my industry. I met like-minded individuals through these organizations, attended industry events, and exchanged valuable knowledge. Additionally, I connected with people on LinkedIn and other social media platforms, which led to opportunities for speaking engagements, collaborations, and referrals.
I also became certified in image consulting, life coaching, marketing, and project management. My continuous education efforts helped me stay relevant in a constantly evolving industry. These certifications also increased my expertise and credibility, leading to speaking opportunities and consulting engagements.
One of the most significant accomplishments in my career was writing my Amazon best-selling book, Unscarred: Prayers for Healing. The book was a personal journey I shared with the world, resonating with many people. The book allowed me to secure media and press opportunities, including interviews, podcast appearances, and feature articles, which helped to increase my credibility and visibility in the industry.
I also contributed my thoughts through blogs and other speaking opportunities, allowing me to showcase my expertise. Speaking at conferences, industry events, and webinars allowed me to share my knowledge and establish myself as an authority in my field. Writing articles for industry publications and blogs also provided a platform to reach a wider audience.
In conclusion, building a reputation in any industry takes time, dedication, and hard work. For me, it was a combination of networking, continuous education, securing media and press opportunities, and contributing my thoughts through various platforms. It was a long journey, but it was worth it. My reputation has opened doors to new opportunities and collaborations, and it has helped to establish my brand as a leader in the industry.
