We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bianca Miller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bianca below.
Bianca, appreciate you joining us today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
COVID-19 has affected us all in many different ways. I must say that it impacted heavily on my small business along with many others. Because of this disease, it caused my business to decline in service and revenue, thus changing the business model. In order to keep the business afloat, I had to come up with a different solution to continue to move forward. I decided to start implementing small backyard events for myself and inviting a small group of friends to join and share my work on their social media. The goal was to host a small event each month and have my friends and family promote it so that I could attract more clients and the plan worked beyond my greatest expectations!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Bianca Miller, and I was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. I started in the event planning industry just by being the family member who was appointed to bring everyone together for family parties, holidays, etc.! This simply started off as a hobby, but once I lost my job…I decided to dive right into full throttle and start my business!
I always had a passion, and my love for creating memorable occasions for loved ones was as easy as breathing for me. Event planning became second nature, yet I never fully committed full-time. Always having an appetite for organization and stellar customer service, I am now able to focus my time on being an entrepreneur, hence the beginning of B. Trendy Events.
This Event Management company implements the visions of my clientele and delivers a service that reflects style with close attention to detail. The services that I offer are Event Management and Coordination, Weddings, Parties, Corporate Events, Fundraisers, Event Design & Decor, Bridal Showers, and more!
In this line of business, I am always prepared for the unexpected, and it is my job to turn that experience into a positive one. Some of the problems that I solve for clients are venue changes or issues. There have been instances where a venue might make a change that the client isn’t prepared for, so I have to find out how to help the process seamless for the client as well as myself.
I think what sets me apart from others is my resilience. To be an entrepreneur in this industry takes an immense amount of resilience. We often have to find ways to make sure the event runs smoothly, even if we are being pulled in different directions. Do you know how many mistakes I’ve made behind the scenes or during an event, and I never sweat? My resilience helps to navigate through those difficult or uncomfortable moments that force me to keep my game face on and smile!
I am most proud of how happy I make my clients once the event has been planned and executed to their standards. It really gives me a sense of purpose in knowing and believing that what I am doing is not in vain. I am proud of the brand that I am building each day.
I would like my potential clients and followers to know that my brand represents class, strength, attention to detail, and happiness which are also represented in my work. My goal is always to add class and sophistication to any event! My brand also provides an experience!
I am also a firm believer in the faith of my community, the same community where I’ve learned the importance of independence, drive, and strong work ethics. Along with hard work, it is my goal to provide unforgettable experiences through celebration.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Networking and utilization of my social media platforms have helped build my reputation within my market. I never realized how impactful making connections with other event planners, and designers in my industry, as well as attending conferences and mixers, have helped to elevate and build my brand and reputation.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One of the resources that have significantly impacted my management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy was a masterclass that I attended virtually by a celebrity event planner and designer by the name of Kathy Romero. Her teachings helped develop my skills on this entrepreneurial journey because she is extremely relatable, She is a woman of color, and she owns a million-dollar business and had humble beginnings. She continues to help her fellow event planners and designers create boundaries within their prospective fields and helps reinvent unforgettable events!
I also gained more knowledge of how to delegate tasks to others instead of doing all the work! I also lead with gratitude and listen to my intuition more and more while managing my brand.
