Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bianca Harris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Bianca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I recently took a significant risk by moving from Toronto to Los Angeles in my 30s. This move was not just about changing locations, but also about a dramatic career shift. I transitioned from being a makeup artist to exploring a new path that intersects art with wellness. This decision was driven by a deep-seated desire for growth and the need to challenge myself in uncharted territories. Adapting to a new city and reinventing my professional identity was daunting, but it proved to be a transformative experience, opening doors to opportunities that align more closely with my passions and aspirations.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve evolved from a makeup artist in Toronto to a creative force in wellness in Los Angeles. I founded WIPPWellness in 2015, a brand that has grown into a leading wellness community. My services include breath work, meditation, sound therapy, and yoga, with a focus on holistic and integrative practices. I’m proud of creating a space in wellness for diverse voices and experiences. My collaborations with major brands like Nike and Google highlight my unique approach to wellness consulting. I want clients to see wellness as a journey that embraces all aspects of life, promoting a balanced and authentic lifestyle.
In addition to my wellness initiatives, I also thrive as a creative director, conceptualizing events and crafting unique products that blend art with wellness. This role allows me to channel my creativity into immersive experiences and tangible items, each embodying the fusion of artistic expression and holistic well-being. My work in this space is not just about creating events or products; it’s about crafting experiences that resonate on a deeper level, connecting people with the transformative power of art and wellness. This aspect of my career is driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to bringing new, meaningful concepts to life, setting my brand apart in the wellness and creative industries.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Reflecting on my career, I wouldn’t go back to change my profession. The need for creativity and freedom is paramount in my work. However, I do wish I had more mentorship, a well-defined plan, and greater access to support. These elements could have provided a stronger foundation and guidance, helping me navigate the challenges more effectively. While I cherish the creative liberty in my path, having additional structured support would have enriched my journey and possibly accelerated my growth in the dynamic field of art and wellness.
Have you ever had to pivot?
In business and life, I believe in the necessity of being flexible enough to pivot constantly. It’s essential to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining the integrity of your mission and plan. This approach has been crucial in my journey, allowing me to stay true to my goals while navigating the ever-evolving landscape of the creative and wellness industries. Embracing this adaptability has been key to sustaining and growing my endeavors in a meaningful way.
