We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bianca Baskins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bianca below.
Hi Bianca, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I remember vividly. It was a few days before New Year’s Eve when I first got the idea for Bratty Luxe. It literally came out of nowhere. I’ve always been the type to get really into something for a little bit and then get bored and move on to the next thing, so at first I didn’t think much of it . Around this time I was just hearing about ChatGPT, so I decided to play around with it and get some name ideas and fun logo suggestions. I figured that would be it.
Very quickly it turned into something completely different. One day I had the idea and then the next day I’m opening business accounts, going to see a trademark attorney, paying for a marketing team (which by the way was such a huge waste of money ) but I was doing all these things that showed how much I was really investing into this. I didn’t want to give up on myself. I wanted to prove a lot of people wrong, and that’s what gave me the grit and determination to work tirelessly onto this adventure into the unknown.
A few months after getting the wheels running with Bratty Luxe, right before my first launch, my sister and I took a trip to Orlando. We stayed at our family’s timeshare, and the apartment we were located in had the WORST Wi-Fi. Before you know it, it’s 20 hours until our site went live and I could not connect to the internet at all. My phones cell service was barely even working. I finally had the bright idea to give the front lobby on property a try. I was SO relieved it worked. Even though that meant sacrificing my comfort. Oh and not to forget , awkwardly sitting next to the guest check-in desk with my handy dandy squishmallow while the same staff that had closed for the evening, were the same ones I greeted when they opened the following morning.
Looking back, I guess there were some signs that I would be riveted by the fashion industry. I was already dabbling in thrifting and reselling on Depop and Poshmark, fascinated by how people could turn their style into a business. I’ve always loved fashion, and people have always complimented my style.
Bratty Luxe has become my baby. It’s the thing I built from nothing, and even though it started as just an idea in my head, I’ve poured everything into it. I wouldn’t change that for the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Bratty Luxe is made for women who have been told they’re too much, they do too much, and for women who are hyper feminine, love glitz, glitter, and standing out. We’re talking iced out mascara, iced out lip oil, sassy crop tees, bold cheetah two pieces you can wear at home or out with your girls or your man. Bratty Luxe is for women like that, women like me, who want fashion to make them feel confident, bold, and completely themselves.
We try to be very connected with our audience. They’re the voice of our brand. We’re always talking to them through newsletters, social media, polls, and open question boards. Whether they realize it or not, their feedback shapes our collections, our strategy, and our creative direction. We go to them first for everything, brand ambassador searches, model calls, even ideas for naming a collection. We’ve talked about featuring customers on our site and naming pieces after them because their voice is that important to us.
We’re also very drop culture based, so our site and products change with every collection. You don’t really know what’s coming until about two to four weeks before launch when we start teasing it. I don’t want my audience to get bored seeing the same thing in different colors over and over. One season we might do cozy lounge sets, the next sexy jumpsuits for winter, and maybe a bratty sweatsuit that hugs you in all the right places. No matter the season, we have something for every body type that will last, feel amazing, and make you feel valued, confident, sexy, and powerful.
What sets us apart is that Bratty Luxe isn’t just a store you shop from because the clothes are cute. We’re building a community and an experience. From the moment someone discovers us online, to the day they open their package, and even beyond that, I want them to feel like part of the Bratty Luxe family. We see them, we hear them, and we create for them. In a world that can feel dull or even intimidating, Bratty Luxe is here to remind them they deserve to stand out and own exactly who they are

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I stay connected with my audience every day. Social media is a big part of it. I am in the DMs, responding to comments, and having real conversations. We run polls, play “this or that,” and keep an open space for people to share what they love. A lot of that feedback ends up shaping our future drops and creative direction. Our newsletters are another way we stay close. I share early access, sneak peeks, and behind-the-scenes moments so they feel like they are part of the process. We just started using Snapchat, which is perfect for a more personal view of my day to day life, every thing that goes into making and maintaining the brand. A lot of our customer really value that side of Bratty Luxe and Snapchat makes it perfect for us to segment exactly who those people are. It lets them be part of the brand in real time. For me, loyalty comes from making them feel like they are part of Bratty Luxe, not just buying from it.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I think about resilience, I think about how much of myself I have poured into Bratty Luxe. I am a nap girlie, so staying up until the sun comes up working is a big deal for me. I even gave up my glam room to turn it into a full warehouse for my brand. A lot of people in my life are not fully on board with the entrepreneur path, especially coming from a culture where a traditional job with a steady paycheck is the norm. But for me this is not a hobby. It is my career and I am building something I love.
I have had people doubt me from the start. I once spoke to a marketing contact who told me that online fashion was too generic and would never work. That just made me want to prove him wrong. Another time I called to rent a studio for some quick product shots and the woman basically brushed me off, saying they were for “big time” projects. Little did she know I had a full campaign shoot coming up days later.
Things like that remind me why I am doing this. I use those moments as fuel to keep going and to push Bratty Luxe to where I know it can be. After all, I wouldn’t be able to lead Bratty Luxe if I gave up easily. To be a true Bratty babe you must believe in yourself and trust your power.
