Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bianca Banks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Bianca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I used to say that I am my biggest obstacle because I would sit and sit and sit in my thoughts about imagining what I know I wanted my life to look like, but I would almost give up in the process. I then had to learn to separate my thoughts from the work and just create a map to the goal and execute it….as the famous slogan goes NIKE:JUST DO IT. I think this execution style also plays into my creative side, because it is about creating the narrative in which you want to live…What does it look like? what is the vision? actually imagine yourself in your vision. Wha will my life look like in 5 years.? etc..
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a native of Los Angeles. My father was a man that grew up in poverty and realized his way out was through education. He worked as a teenager with a pharmacist and his pharmacy in the mid-west and decided that was his career path. He was the first African American to graduate from the ST.Louis college of pharmacy. He then moved to Los Angeles and worked tirelessly to create his own pharmacies and schools. He saw me in him and I worked with my father from age 4. I learned the business and the trade of pharmacy, discipline, to have respect for money, to do things the right way and an impossible work ethic. My father passed in 2006, I assumed CEO at 29 years of age. However the importance of LEGACY and allowing the legacy to live is why I live.
I know that I was born into a blessing because I am adopted and God paired me with my adoptive parents for a reason. I have never met my bio parents.
My biggest accomplishments, without a doubt are my children and motherhood.
Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
I have sold businesses before, but I see the blessing of closing doors and opening doors.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
There are so many instances in which I have really felt scared..like where am I going to get money or resources? and honestly prayer for me is first, God is first and only through his grace and favor have I survived and I have seen miracles come true.
