We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bianca Alejandra a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Bianca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have explored many creative avenues from being on stage as an actress to being on the runway as a model. I started a podcast a few years ago that ran for two seasons as well. However, my greatest form of expression has always been writing.
After leaving a long term relationship, I decided that the best way to release and start anew was to literally release a book full of my feelings. That is where the idea for Letters to my Lost Loves came from. I self published this book of poetry and prose on my birthday in 2023. I took old journal entries, notes from my phone, and included art from local Houston artists to top it all off. The launch of this book went better than I could have ever imagined and encouraged me to release another one soon after.
On Valentine’s Day 2024, I self published Soul Ties and Solitude. This spicy romance tells the story of a woman who almost loses herself for the sake of saving a relationship that was never meant to work. The response to this book was even better than the first.
So to answer the question of when I first knew, I always did. And I continue to be reminded all the time.

Bianca, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those of you who don’t know, I’m Bianca! I’m a mommy, educator, reader, and most recently an author. My two kiddos are my driving force and the kids around my school have a very special place in my heart. Reading brings me comfort and my writing has been an outlet for as long as I can remember.
During a transitional phase in my life, I leaned heavily on my writing and decided to use that as an opportunity to release all of the emotions that were weighing me down. As a self published author, the writing, editing, and all the behind the scenes work was done by me. I chose to include local artists in my first release as a way of reaching a broader audience and giving them the spotlight they deserve as well.
Letters to my Lost Loves is a collection of poetry and prose. I threw together old journal entries and notes I had in my phone with the art offered to me. It was such a beautiful experience getting to let go of all the hurt I felt in my past.
Soul Ties and Solitude was released a few months later. This spicy romance is 100 pages worth of lust, love, and loss. The woman in the story is doing all she can to keep the man she has convinced herself is her soul mate. Don’t worry, she eventually finds her happy ending.
I have to say that what I’m most proud of about this journey is the way I reclaimed my voice. We all want the opportunity to feel freely and writing has granted me that.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
This journey hasn’t been perfect. I have received tons of support. But in the same breath, I’ve received some backlash. Most of the concern is “What if the parent’s of your student’s find your books?” Or “How will you explain to your kids what you wrote?”
They’re valid question, but they aren’t questions that have made me regret my choices. At the end of the day, I chose to share my story in order to empower myself. It is not something that I am ashamed of.
I haven’t ever met someone who hasn’t experienced the feeling of love or loss. That is all I write about. It’s not meant to be pretty or perfect. It’s meant to be real and relatable. People connect with the characters because they see pieces of themselves in these fictional people.
If I had to say something to a creative who is reading my words, it’d be this:
Not everyone is going to agree with your work, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. If it means something to you, it’s very likely it will mean something to someone else. You could be the person who changes someone’s life.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Connection. There were so many times in my past where I felt alone. I felt like I had to deal with things on my own or that I was the only one going through those emotions and circumstances. I want to be able to connect with my audience. I want to give them all a chance at not feeling so lonely. And to remind them that things do get better.
