We were lucky to catch up with Beverly Lavigne recently and have shared our conversation below.
Beverly, appreciate you joining us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Vacations are essential to knowing oneself. Whether about the country, abroad or right in your own local areas’ back yard, vacations are truly one of the best things we can do for our health and wellness. I enjoy traveling solo, with my husband and the occasional family trip. All are important to me.
One of the best trips I’ve ever taken was across Europe by train one summer, producing some of my greatest personal experiences. Self-reliance pushed me to places I didn’t know were possible and left me hungering for more. I grew in so many ways, naturally and spiritually and really enjoyed doing everything on my own terms. As stated earlier, I really enjoy traveling with my family, yet, a trip that allowed me to cater to…me: Awesome! That summer, I traveled to Berlin, Amsterdam, Aix en Provence, Marseilles, Paris, Barcelona and even attended the Montreaux Jazz Festival while in Geneva.
Solo travel, even if it’s another city in your own state, should be experienced by everyone at least once, in my opinion. Try it, you’ll see.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
As person of many interests that include teaching S.T.E.M. courses, reading, writing, sewing, cooking, and camping; travel is my vice. As a child, our family library held a book of international tales. It was where my longing to know of others around the world began. An overseas military tour in 1989 with my husband began the fulfillment of that dream. Traveling became our place to rejuvenate, reconnect, and learn about ourselves in enriching and exciting environments. In all, I’ve had the opportunity to visit over 40 cities abroad and over 50 cities across the U.S.. GoBe’Do Travel experiences range from 5*****star hotels and all-inclusive resorts to cruises and safaris.
After years of helping others plan for unique experiences, in 2011, I became a Certified Travel Consultant, and GoBe’Do Enterprises’ Travel sector was born. Our company curates travel experiences that quench the wander thirsts and fuel the soul. We get to know our customers and work to build experiences based on what is of greatest importance to you. As a result, “life changing” has been our greatest post travel response.
We enjoy creating quintessential experiences that balance play, exploration, adventure, rest and rejuvenation. But, if rest and play are what you’re needing instead, we’ve got you covered there too.
As an African American woman, I am keen to a range of travel experiences that have taught me best practices in the planning of safe and enjoyable experiences for all travelers. We research and plan based on the latest information available so that you can focus on having fun!
Additionally, I understand when family members may need special accommodations. At GoBe’Do Travel, curating safe and enjoyable experiences for all travelers is our specialty.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
My father, a Master Electrician and mother, a Poetess; set standards of excellence in every entrepreneurial and civic endeavor they put their hands to. Their lessons carry forth as a firm foundation on which to build, for which I am grateful.
George Fraser’s “Success Runs in Our Race”, Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, Napoleon Hill’s “Master Key” and the Holy Bible round out my top 5 influences. Additionally, the free webinars offered through S.C.O.R.E. Houston are a treasure I tap into often.
I believe good, sound business practices are always the fashion, and aspire to build GoBe’Do on this philosophy.
