We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Beverly Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Beverly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
One of the biggest problems I faced at the beginning of my business, which is really still where I am is an unexpected conflict within my actual career that would require more of my time with regard to my client service, and having to take an immediate step back in my content presence schedule online for my business.
That created an immediate fear that I shouldn’t do it. However, knowing that bumps in the road happen, when the time is right, I will be doing a relaunch.

Beverly, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a Minister, Coach, Speaker, Trainer, and Author, walking out my calling began truthfully at the age of 8 in athletics. I was a part of a team, and at any age that is impactful and educational in many ways. Something I will never forget is having to sell candy to support our team, and having to do so to perfect strangers. For someone who was completely shy this was traumatic yet gratifying when making a sale. Somewhere in there, there was a future that I was unaware of.
I was educated and mentored in sales, human development, and Biblical studies, and was in love with serving others. I was unofficially mentoring and coaching others, and wanted to learn what effective coaching was so I could make an impact on a higher level that I believe I’ve been called to. Eventually I became a certified coach, speaker, and trainer, through the Maxwell Leadership program.
My heart’s desire is to share my expertise in both individual and group coaching sessions, as well as behind the mic on a platform, and through the writings that are slowly being created in my free time.
My undergraduate degree in psychology from Longwood College (now University), master’s in biblical studies from Colorado Christian University, and commitment as a licensed minister are added ingredients in my coaching recipe that I use to Help women in particular get their ”SHE“ together.
Regardless of our role, many women find themselves in a position of emotional stuckness. Emotional stuckness can feel like being trapped in a dark tunnel with no way out. It manifests as a constant sense of unease, dissatisfaction, and unfocused emotions that hinders our ability to move forward and thrive. Many factors can contribute to emotional stuckness, including unresolved past experiences, negative thought patterns, and ongoing stressors. However, with the right support and tools, it is possible to break free from this cycle and find emotional relief.
One of the things that I take pride in is total transparency. I have experienced a myriad of past emotional, sexual, mental, financial, and any other traumas that we might be able to discuss, and feel as if I have a side seat view to most of the women I minister to, collaborate with, or coach. That is imperative in my mind because I believe in the saying “they don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
If we take guided steps to address emotional stuckness and by identifying and acknowledging its presence in our lives. we can strategically break down barriers TOGETHER that we have come to realize are VERY common, we can strategically rise from the ashes that have darkened our journey and gain a renewed confidence and strength by working our personal plan while giving ourselves grace! THIS is Best of You Coaching LLC!
I work full-time as a Growth and Innovation Director or a long-term care pharmacy, where I am blessed to serve and protect the aging population.
For over 15 years, I have volunteered for Dress for Success Denver. I served as a coach, speaker (Ambassador), and as a member on their Board of Directors. I currently serve on the Board for Mary Magdalene Refuge Center for Women, support and co-manage Hope of Mercy Ministries Uganda, support and serve at my church, and serve monthly in street ministry to encourage and support the un-housed, all while continuing to collaborate with others on ways to make the world a better place.
I wrote my first book, “Why I Forgave Him,” a personal journey of betrayal and faith, and soon to publish my second entitled “I Want That Fruit!”
I know my greatest opportunities are ahead of me, and I am excited to embrace them as they take shape! I started Best of You Coaching LLC to help others STOP the silence, find their voice, and move forward by intentionally identifying their goals, mapping a plan, and being accountable to their growth plans, every day.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I believe that the biggest lesson I had to unlearn is that I am not enough.
The major influence in being able to start a business is having confidence that you are enough and that fear, while natural, is not an option if you’re going to succeed.
Fear grips and keep us motionless in our efforts to walk out what God has for us. I had always been afraid for reasons that touch on traumas from my past. Keeping those fears in a box is not always easy, and takes prayer and discipline, knowing that I have the power to overcome has to remain in the forefront of my mind at all times.
While society dictates it, success is not found in dollars and cents. Success is found in fulfilling the call that God has on your life. Getting those things confused can lengthen your time in the wilderness while learning all of the impactful lessons along the way. Getting our “SHE” together is something that we as women have to do on a regular basis, we have to encourage one another, we have to give ourselves grace on the journey, AND we need not be ashamed.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I could share many, however, I would say the most impactful would be the challenge of my health journey.
I get to overcome the challenge of having more than one auto immune disease, multiple musculoskeletal issues that have resulted in 30+ surgeries, a lot of PT visits, a lot of pain management and mental health balance challenges. It’s more of a crockpot of trying to keep up with whatever happens next. I do my best to embrace it with joy and always look to overcome so I can continue to do what I was put here to do. I must represent God well in my challenges.
I believe my second greatest challenge would be overcoming betrayal in my marriage. Of course those details are displayed in my book.
I often say that I’m kept in the middle of all of it so I will remember how to coach and Minister best!
