Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Betty Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Betty, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to teach parents that they can provide fun educational opportunities for their children with what they already have at home. As parents we are constantly busy and constantly on the move but with the day to day routines there is so much that can be done to help our children engage and interact with the world around them!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As an educator with over 10 years of experience I have realized that one of my favorite things to do is teach other parents and caregivers the basics about teaching children right at home. I have learned that not all parents have that knowledge on how to teach their kids and that’s ok! Just like I don’t know how to medically help anyone in my family or give advice to my friends on how to buy a house, there are caregivers who did not learn in college how to turn every day activities into rich learning opportunities. I love to give my fellow moms and dads tools as well as tips and tricks they can use at home to help their child develop language, think critically, build confidence, feel autonomy and so much more.
I also consider myself an outgoing and funny person so on my personal instagram page I like to keep it more to my fun content creation where I joke about being raised in a Latina household or how it is to be a Miami girl. So I decided to move all my child development related materials to my other page – @brillandokids

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When the pandemic started I began providing learning kits for families to do science related activities at home. As time went on and businesses started opening and kids started going back to school, I realized parents did not really need science kits at home. So I started listening to my audience more and what they responded to the most. I would get a lot of messages with questions about how to help their children engage in reading at home, or what I do with my infant daughter to foster learning at home. I realized that the content I needed to be putting out was more about how to do simple activities with what parents might already have lying around the house and easy things that do not take a lot of prep work or going out and looking for materials.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The main goal I have in my journey is to build a brand where I can help busy moms realize that it doesn’t take much to be a perfect mom. There are too many pages focused on the beautiful aesthetic of perfectly curated sensory bins, or toy shelves, or playrooms that look untouched. My goal is to find the audience of moms who is comfortable with what they have and understand that a little goes a long way! Meaning just 5-15 minutes of high quality play a day means more to our kids than a perfect selection of neutral toned toys. While those are important and just as fun, I want parents to focus more on what they can do at the moment than having to work hard to look for items and products just to feel like they can be like the “Pinterest” moms.
