We were lucky to catch up with Betsy Hernandez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Betsy, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
As a young girl, I always saw my mom work as hard as she could to have all the things we did. She is my entire motivation & inspiration do to the most I can with the time I have here.
The legacy I’m hoping to build is one reminds women to join forces, to build each other up, & to support each other. There is room for all of us at the top. If we work hard together, we can accomplish so much more. I want to inspire women to not feel threatened or jealous of one another but to encourage them to mention each other in rooms of opportunity.
I hope people will remember me as passionate, hard working & someone always mentioned others in rooms of opportunity.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m currently 28. I’m a photoshoot manager for a brand called iHeartRaves by day and lifestyle content creator on my spare time. I’m a huge advocate for self improvement and female empowerment. I love of all things motivational & inspirational.
I was born & raised in mainly Southern California but lived in different states thought out the years ( AZ, CO, LV).
Since I was young, I always was creative by nature. My love for photoshoots, fashion & pop culture content started very young. Since I was about 7, I could remember begging my mom to buy me j-14 & teen vogue magazines at the grocery store. I was fascinated by the different types of high fashion photoshoots with all my favorite celebrities. I was a huge music video girly. that being one of my bucket list goals is to creative direct a music video.
Consuming all that Y2K content as a young age really planted the seed for me for my career.
During college I started taking my instagram seriously and gaining a following from dressing up & going to festivals. As I become deeper involved in the festival & rave scene, I started getting attention from brands that wanted to promote their clothes & products on my page.
That’s when I fell in love with creating content and imagining this more long term.
After college, I noticed a job opportunity with the biggest festival fashion brand in the space. I applied for the content coordinator role and was hired! I was out there, attending festivals, crafting content, & getting the inside scoop behind the scenes at photoshoots. After that exciting phase, I transitioned to our Merchandise team. There, I dabbled in product and print development, all while being lead as the stylist for our photoshoots.
Fast forward to the last 2 years, I’ve climbed the ladder to now manage our fab photoshoot team – a small but mighty crew. In this role, I’m behind the creative vision for all of iheartraves photo & video shoots. I play a pivotal role in executing all paid ad content, e-commerce endeavors, and everything else that requires a dash of creativity at iheartraves.
While working on all of that I’m also building on my personal brand (IG & TT: @Betsy_ville). I create lifestyle & inspirational content for women of all ages. I’ve recently had a break though with a semi viral video that I created about meal prepping. It’s been my most successful video to date that was called “lazy girl meal prep”. I love sharing my routines, work outs, & hair tutorials. It has become a huge passion of my when I’m not working and hope to eventually make that my full time career.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most reward is always seeing your ideas & visions come to life. Things you thought of in your mind and becoming actual tangible things. I love seeing the process but even more the outcome of hard work & dedication

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
It started in 2017 when I was in college with festival & rave content. I started posting my outfits and that got the attention of a lot of people. That lasted about 5 years. As I started growing & evolving so did my content and interests on what I wanted to post about.
Just recently I decided I was going to make a huge shift in my content. I wanted to post more of my everyday life and my habits & routines. Luckily it was received really well and I’ve been gaining traction that way as of recently and I’m having tons of fun!
Advice I would give to those starting out is be consistent. it’s the only way to grow. I post everyday on IG & TT. Post only things you’re truly passionate about and it will never feel like work. Share your message and don’t mind the haters. they’re just jealous that you actually did it and they didn’t.
