We were lucky to catch up with Betsy Hammer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Betsy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents gave me as many opportunities as they could, providing me with music and drama lessons. I studied accordion, piano and voice. My Mom and Dad took me to a music store and bought me my first guitar at age 13. They also supported me obtaining a Bachelor of Music degree from Ohio University School of Music, and were very excited to attend my big Classical Recital in my Senior year.

Betsy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m very excited to have been chosen for the cast of “Pump Boys and Dinettes.” I was selected to be one of the co-stars of a six-member cast, co-produced on Broadway and with the Playhouse Square Entertainment Center of Cleveland. Being flown to Broadway to be trained by the original cast was exhilarating.
Another career highlight has been to work full-time for a dozen years in Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions. Working with Adam gave me opportunities to sing and act in several of his films. It’s a joy working with Adam Sandler, as well as with his legendary producer Brooks Arthur, who brought me into the fold of Happy Madison.
An important aspect of my work is as a Vocal Coach (Betsy Hammer Vocal Coaching, found at www.betsyhammer.com) and Music Producer . I love teaching and supporting talents of all ages to develop and enjoy their God-given voices. I am a knowledgeable and encouraging Vocal Coach who helps students bring out their love of singing, develop confidence, learn excellent and healthy techniques, all the while having fun as they sing! My students walk away from their lessons feeling uplifted, happy and successful!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love the pure joy I feel on a daily basis, expressing my creativity and working with others who do the same!
