Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bethi Lewis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bethi , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most meaningful projects that I’ve worked on is the song “Love is Just Around the Corner.” The song is about going to my grandparent’s house as a child. My grandparents lived in Huntsville, TN with my older sister but most of our family lived in Michigan. I reached out to all of my cousins and family friends and asked for their memories of visits there. Most of us were never there at the same time but we all share the same sweet memories of my grandparent’s home.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I grew up in a little town called Delton, MI. I spent my childhood on Wall Lake fishing, searching for turtles and wading in the water. I started singing on stage at the age of 3 to go along with my daddy’s sermons. At the age of 14 I was leading worship at White Pigeon Community Church and began singing professionally in 2021. I reside just outside the village of Burr Oak where I homeschool my 3 children. I am the singer and songwriter of “Run, Rebel, Run” the theme song from the podcast by the Historic Scott County Jail in Huntsville, TN. You can find me on social media as Bethi Lewis.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I wish people could understand the struggle to do this work. The way that one day is so exciting and amazing and then the next it can be so incredibly difficult. You have to be consistent and work hard every day. It’s not just plucking away at a guitar and having a song write itself. It’s a beautiful gift to do what I do but it’s not easy.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, it has been the love of my supporters. One beautiful soul drove from Tennessee to Athens, Michigan just to see me play. There’s an amazing mother who sends me videos of her little girl singing in church who sings because she saw me at the Farmer’s market, There’s a young lady who asked me to sing with her on an open mic night locally because she was afraid but she knew that I could help her overcome her fear. I was so proud of her. These are some of my reasons why I do what I do.
