We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Beth Goltz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Beth, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
My business is unique in that I am a licensed Realtor® in Colorado and have formal education in Interior Design so my business offers both real estate and interior design services. I can help people buy & sell real estate and also help them with any interior design or remodeling services. There are not many people I have come across in the real estate industry or the interior design industry that offer both those services.
When people hear that I specialize in interior design & real estate, they usually assume it is staging services, however, I do not do staging and instead, offer full-service interior design services & renovations. Many of my clients will leverage my design expertise while we are searching for homes to understand potential in homes and then once they purchase a home, they hire me to help them remodel their new kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, or even just to assist with new furniture for their home. Not every real estate transaction results in design work – I am flexible offering just real estate services, just interior design services, or doing both with a client. It is really rewarding when I help a client buy a home envisioning the potential, then we get to work on the new design after they close on the house, and I am able to deliver to my clients a new home and then a remodeled space!

Beth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Business and spent the first 12 years of my career in various sales & marketing roles. After leaving corporate America, I decided the next chapter of my life would be following a passion of mine. I have always been interested in looking at real estate, doing home improvement projects, and paying attention to interior design trends and I knew having a career working with homes, would be a perfect job for me.
I first worked on getting my real estate license in CO and then the next two years were spent building up my real estate business. While in showings or preparing houses for sale, I naturally would help my clients with design ideas & help them see the potential. My real estate clients started telling me I should also offer design services and a light bulb went off. If I could offer real estate & design services, I knew I would have a unique business model and be able to help my clients fully achieve their home goals. I took the idea seriously and enrolled in an intensive interior design program called Heritage School of Interior Design in Denver to get formal education in Interior Design. The program was full time and I juggled that while still working as a Realtor and being a mom – it was a tough time of my life, but it was so worth it. Once I got through the program, I officially started Beth Goltz Real Estate & Design and took off running. I have now been providing real estate & interior design services since mid-2020.
The problems I solve for my clients is that many prospective buyers or sellers cannot envision the potential in a space. For buyers, rather than passing up a house because they don’t like the kitchen, I can help show them how we could remodel it to be that dream kitchen they want. We will stand in the space and I will point out how we could reconfigure things and where we could make improvements. I have had multiple clients nearly pass up homes because they couldn’t think past how the home currently looks, but by thinking creatively, they would see the potential to turn it into their dream home and decide to move forward.
I am most proud when I have a client that purchases a home through me, hires me for interior design, and then I deliver to them that dream home (or space) they were looking for. Going from showings to bringing them through the real estate transaction, closing on the home, creating design concepts, creating space plans, and then going through construction is so fulfilling. Looking back at the old MLS photos and how the remodeled space looks in the end just fills me with so much pride & happiness.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
A large majority of my clients are through my network, repeat business, or through referrals from my network. I do meet new clients in real estate from marketing efforts and open houses, but for design – it has primarily been from my network including real estate clients, friends, family, and referrals. I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful network that have supported me by working with me and/or passing my name on to their friends & family. I do not sit around waiting for referrals though – I make sure I stay top of mind with social media, posting positive reviews I receive, getting involved in the community, and offering advice whenever people come to me asking about the real estate market or design questions. I try to be a valuable resource to my network so they know they can look to me as someone they can trust if the time comes that they need assistance with a real estate or design transaction.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
This was a huge focus for me when I first started out in real estate and continues to be a big focus on mine. While I was still working on my real estate license, I created a website through WordPress and started building up content on it by publishing blog posts on real estate & home improvement topics. I wrote posts about tips for buyers & sellers and what to expect as part of a real estate transaction – I would then promote these blogs on Facebook & Twitter. Over the years, this website has evolved by including information on my interior design offerings, design projects, and even an online shop for my curated “to-the-trade-only” picks that anyone (not just designers!) can purchase from. I try to keep my website a place for people to learn more about me, as well as gain valuable insights & inspiration for real estate & design.
As I started to go down the path of interior design, I created a business Instagram & Facebook page where I posted home inspiration posts such as beautiful spaces, posts about my showings, posts about my design work, and highlighting any real estate transactions I had. I try to post valuable content that my followers will want to see, while also trying to remind people that I do both real estate & design. I also post a lot to Pinterest and put in the URL to my website to drive people back to my website to see home inspiration, design projects of mine, home improvement tips, or my latest Instagram posts so they can then go to my Instagram if they want to follow me there.
I think the biggest tip I have is to post consistently to keep your audience engaged & post content that you think will be interesting to your followers. I also try to post on various social media platforms – Instagram, Facebook, WordPress, and Pinterest so people can find me in various locations online. By seeing my name across various platforms or in various forms, I hope that keeps me top of mind to people on what I do.
