Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Beth Compton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Beth thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
Being detail oriented is essential in stationery. I have high standards for every invitation suite that is mailed to my couples and their guests. Each piece is a reflection of not only my artistic style but work ethic and care. Every print, fold, cut, etc. is carefully made, and I expect the same level of care from the vendors I partner with that I expect of myself. The mark of good craftsmanship and customer service is what makes luxury stationery a step (or more) above common online retailers.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Back in 2018, as a stay-at-home mom, I was in the midst of finding my identity outside the home. Tinlizzy Design Co. began out of a desire to build something that I loved, be an outlet for my creativity and continue to stretch me. In the beginning, I took every wedding stationery request that came across my desk, but over time I have settled into my artistic identity and offerings to provide the best experience for the couples I design for.
Many of my designs center around digitally created custom watercolors of venues and other special features of a couple’s day. I love connecting with couples to bring their ideas to life – hearing their passions, turning around inspired to design, and nailing their vision. When a couple feels like I heard them and I respond in turn with their dream stationery, it bring me so much joy. As I have grown as a stationer by being more authentically myself in all facets, it has only gotten better as I create for others shining their vision through the lens of my design.
While Tinlizzy Design Co.’s main focus is to create artfully handcrafted wedding stationery, we are currently expanding our offerings to keep in step with our couples as they reach all the milestones life has to celebrate, including birthdays, holidays, baby announcements and more.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Getting to meet people face-to-face has been my best source to booking new couples. So many people still want to see and feel not only the products they are putting money into, but they want to know the artist behind the work that they are investing in and trusting. However, after reinvesting back into my business throughout 2022 through a website relaunch and business and social media coaching, I have seen significant growth in those that find me over social media platforms and Google searches.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Creating boundaries as a small business owner is essential, and a skill that I had to learn over time. When I was getting started, it was easy to be a “yes” person. As a natural people pleaser, I found myself saying yes to every last minute project, projects that didn’t artistically interest me, and even projects or couples that had some ‘red flags’ I ignored. I was finding myself frustrated, uninspired and overworked.
But as with all things that are hard, it just took practice to say “no.” Once I thought through the boundaries that were important to me, they made their way into my contracts, conversations with couples from the start, evident in my scheduling, etc.
