We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Beth Amine a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Beth, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
My biggest risk and most rewarding adventure has been to devote my life to artistic expression, both mine and to all the others I have included in my business ventures.
I decided early on, in childhood, that I wanted to be an artist. I would draw, mosaic, paint and write as a means to my own internal enjoyment and stability. I could always count on entering that happy place when I was doing something creative and intuitively self-exploring. In the time frame of my adolescence in the 1950’s and I believe this is still mostly the case, thinking of art as a career was a sure path to danger and starvation. So I obediently planned on being a teacher and had a major in English and a minor in Art when I started the University in the mid 1960’s. I transferred from UCLA to Berkeley in 1965 and fully participated in the cultural shift that was to open and change us forever. I began my full study of art and the free expression of all kinds that was all around me at the time. I never looked back.
When I arrived in Santa Barbara, California in the early 1970’s and needed a way to make a living, I randomly took a few belly dance classes and was immediately asked to perform at a large popular Greek Restaurant. This added dance and the mind-body connection to my multi-media art. I was completely transformed forever and became an entertainer who knew how to perform and engage with a crowd as well as create a transformation of my own body and health.
Since then, I have spent over half a century engaging in making art of all kinds including painting, stained glass, interior design, dance performance, choreography, costume design and writing a book on self-care and joyous living, But the most rewarding endeavors for me have been my business formats and programs where I encourage the joyous self-expression and self-knowledge others. I have a passion for teaching that includes reaching a large span of individuals through my membership site with classes, courses and group support for keeping spirits lifted in shifting times as well as movement classes and instructor trainings for elders,
I love a party which to me is a place for all of us to get together and feel good!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My brand, Dancing with Time, was developed from over half a century of dedication to self-knowledge and personal evolution through the arts and artistic expression for all. As a muti-media artist, painter, designer, author, dancer and speaker, I found as much if not more joy in sharing my methods of self-discovery with others than expanding from the explorations myself. I love a party, which is to me feeling joy and liberation through group interaction and celebration. Through my own personal growth of becoming an elder and watching the relentless culturally placed limitations on the possibilities of moving through time, at 78 I am able to be in full health and enjoy every minute of a creative and active life. This is what “Dancing with Time” is all about, feeling the wonder and vibrancy of life at any stage, any moment, and for anyone. It is the ultimate in self-care. “I am not old, I am not young, I just am.”
The core values and principles that my brand stands for are love and connection to self first which leads to kindness, inclusiveness and acceptance of others. This includes the values of bravery to be authentic, the courage to grow, and most of all knowing that life is meant to be fun and enjoyed to the fullest.
My Mission is to bring more love and happiness to the planet by encouraging and inspiring individuals to know and enjoy who they uniquely are and appreciate their lives in the moment even if present circumstances call for change. Also to provide enjoyable and easily accessible lifestyle education through courses, classes and products. To use the connective power of art to bring people closer to themselves and each other. To represent Earth as the Joyous Party Planet! My Personal Purpose: Experience the pure unlimited enjoyment of life for self and with others. Goal: A happier, healthier planet. And more fun!
With inner connection there are less medical costs from depression, anxiety, physical decline and general suffering. When we are ongoingly connected to the beauty and joy of our inner worlds and the world and universe around us, we do not live or act out our separation which feels like wounding. We are kind to each other and our planet home. We experience the pure enjoyment of life. In a word, happier!
Many at this time feel dull, as if something is missing and they cannot get to it or find what it is. Life is lackluster with no excitement to get up in the morning or have something to look forward to. Or, faced with a new unknown point in time, may want to redefine and expand their personal identity, casting off past responses and ways of being to a fresh more fully vibrant self. All our programs and products are fun and effective.
My brand distinction is that it is steeped in and devoted to the pure joyous pleasure of being alive in every moment, even with external conditions that may need to shift. There is a peace with current reality that allows forward growth and gives a structure for dealing with challenges and see them as navigational, not a concrete reality. I am proud of the positive results that my working with thousands of individuals that I have seen and been lovingly acknowledged for over the years.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Perseverance and tenacity. Daily infusing your mind with self believe and feeling your desires as if they are real now.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Throughout my fifty plus year career as a full-time artist and entrepreneur, I have had many evolutions in the form of both my personal explorations and my income streams. One specific is that during the 2008 recession no one was buying art or art services and I switched my identity from a visual artist to a dancer. I was given the opportunity to develop a movement program for elders that was gifted to me by one of my dance students who was an activity director at a retirement residence. It shifted my economic base of support and was incredibly rewarding as well.
