We were lucky to catch up with Berthenia Parker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Berthenia , thanks for joining us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
The best thing i’ve done that i was really proud of was sending free clothes to my customers daughter, I saw that the young lady was plus sized and i immediately remembered what that was like as a child and how hard it was for my mother to buy trendy clothes that would fit me. I received a message that was very heartwarming from my customers daughter thanking me for the gifts because it’s hard for her Mother to buy things that sometimes and that fit her.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Berthenia Parker a dedicated and loving mother of three daughters, i’ve been working with women and fashion since i graduated in 2003 from high school. I own a trendy boutique that caters to curvy and plus size women. The problem i solve for my customers is being able to find clothes that fit their figures and helping them gain confidence along the way.I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact that i love what i do and it brings me so much joy to be able to connect with women and share stories and prayers all while helping them shop and find clothes that they love. I’m most proud of myself for continuing to persevere through all of the craziness business owners have been faced with since the pandemic and i’m even more proud of having a location about to open up for ladies to physically be able to shop.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe what helped me build a solid reputation was connecting and engaging with women before i actually launched my business. I have very strong customer service skills and love connecting with women so before my business was in existence i would have conversations with women about fashion on facebook, and instagram i often received compliments about my outfits so my audience was eagerly waiting for my boutique to open.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been social media in general but currently Tik Tok, customers see your videos and they love your presence they fall in love with your brand and literally become repeat customers.
