Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bernie and Christy Auld. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Bernie and Christy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
We had been married for almost two (2) years when we decided to start the blog but had been together for almost 16 years. We had plenty of stories and adventures to share with our readers but we both believe that when you do something you do it right. Even today we struggle with finding the time to sit down and work on a post. Actually, let’s correct that…every day we discuss something fun we just did or a memory of somewhere we traveled that would make a great blog post. However, talking about it and writing down our adventures are two (2) different things. Sometimes we think we should have done a video blog because not only would everything be documented but our viewers could witness the craziness that is our lives for themselves. Seriously there are things that happen to us that we wouldn’t believe if it happened to someone else.
Although these discussions have not necessarily made it in a blog post yet for us it is a great way to relive our life together. We have our own online journal if you will that reminds us of all the adventures we have and the many that are yet to come. And maybe that’s an important fact to point out to everyone who is struggling to find the time to make their dream work or just can’t find the creativity they were hoping to find. Eventually it will all fall in place, and it will come together exactly how you envisioned. And even if it doesn’t happen the way you hoped, maybe you had fun and learned a few things about yourself along the way.
So, it’s fair to say that we have mixed feelings about whether we should have started the blog sooner or later than 2019. However, we tend to believe that timing is everything and things happen when they are supposed to happen and for us it seemed like the right time.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Who are the Auld’s you may ask? We are Bernie and Christy Auld, and our blog is devoted to the fun and crazy adventures that we experience together. Why do your readers care anything about what we do? Well, reality shows are everywhere and how often can you relate to reality stars. Most of the time when we meet people and talk about the craziness that is our lives, they become interested not only in our story, but they seem to come up with their own ideas of things they could do to have a little more fun and their own adventures. Others can relate to us because we are not millionaires with scripted lives. We are just another husband/wife duo that loves to have fun with each other. For us adventure can be something as simple as going to a restaurant. Fun and adventure are something we never work hard at finding. It tends to find us wherever we go.
Allow us to introduce ourselves separately to give you a better idea of who we are individually. This will also help as you read our blog to know how each of us think.
My name is Bernie Auld, and I am originally from Texas. I have never met a stranger and can always find something to entertain myself. My humor is not always understood but most of the time it is for my amusement more than for others. I do not take myself seriously so you should not either. Christy calls me her five (5) year old (yes, that’s a compliment) because I can find the fun in everything. Our blog is so much fun because who knows what I will come up with next.
My name is Christy Auld, and I am originally from Missouri. It will not take you long to figure out that I am very blunt and to the point. If I do not like something, I will tell you and if I find something that I love, well, that is why I wanted to start a blog so I could share those things with others. I am the first to try something new and am afraid of very few things. Bernie always says that people “remember the redhead”. Well, for better or for worse people do remember the redhead and for that you will never hear me apologize.
So now that you have gotten to know us a little better, we hope you will decide to follow our blog to see what interesting things we are talking about and what adventures we are starting. Who knows where we will take you next?

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal or mission, if you will, of our blog is to show the world that you don’t have to be rich to enjoy life and that the simplest things in life can be an adventure. TV is consumed with reality shows with fake people living in Hollywood who tell the world that the only way to have fun is to have money. Well, we live in Tennessee, don’t have a lot of money, and probably enjoy life a heck of a lot more.
Sometimes it’s a matter of being in the right place or even the wrong place at the right time. There have been so many times that we have met people in a bar or restaurant only to have them invite us to a cool event or give us a heads up of an upcoming event that they think we would love to attend. For example, in 2016 we were walking down Broadway in Downtown Nashville during the NHL All-star Weekend and a guy walked up and just gave us free tickets to the All-Star Pre-Game Celebration at the Wildhorse Saloon. We ate, drank, and partied for free with a bunch of strangers and loved every minute!
We want our readers to hear about our adventures and get excited about having their own. We want everyone who reads our blog to say “wow, if they can do that so can I” or “I want to have fun like they do”. We want our readers to email us questions on how we do so many things while spending very little money or tell us about their adventures. We live life as if it could be our last adventure. You better enjoy the ride while you can because nobody gets out alive and the one thing nobody can ever say about us is that we didn’t live life to the fullest!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
To be perfectly honest we did so much research before launching our blog that it’s hard to believe that there were any resources we didn’t know about before launching the blog. In fact, all that research probably hurt us more than it helped. We researched everything from the best website programs to use to the best way to set up your calendar to write and schedule blog posts to attracting more readers to your blog. Seriously there wasn’t anything we didn’t read prior to launching. The problem was there was so much information out there that at some point we had to stop reading and implement our plan. There is such a thing as too much information or information overload.
For us, learning as we go has worked out great for us and although we still make mistakes, we feel learning while doing was the best plan for us. The fact is many of the fun and adventures we find ourselves happened when we were doing something else or had no plans. Flying by the seat of your pants isn’t always a bad thing. Everyone’s learning process is different, so they have to determine what works best for them. We still use resources from time to time, but we do not rely on them to be the end all answer to what we are trying to accomplish.
