Bernard, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Covid quarantine was a defining moment in my career. That’s when I started writing my book and developed my 1st speech on the power of meditation. That’s also when I started my podcast. Being quarantine I had a lot of time on my hands and decided to use my time as wisely as I could.
Bernard, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got it to the world of speaking by way of going to personal development seminars, and wanting to become a facilitator and host my own seminars. In 2020 during the COVID-19 quarantine I have a lot of time to think about what I wanted to do with my life moving forward. I’ve I’ve been a meditation enthusiast for many years and that will be the platform or idea that I want to share with the world. I heard a Brandon Richard interview and where he talked about. What is one thing that you want to bring to the world and meditation is that one thing for me. It’s been around for many centuries, I believe, it’s not promoted properly in the urban community. The power of Meditation is the idea I want to share with my community. Meditation has helped me overcome mini mental health issues that I dealt with in the past. In the urban community, I believe mental health is the cause of a lot of our unfortunate circumstances and meditation can be a great tool to assist us in becoming better versions of ourselves.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One book that have impacted me the most in my journey. Thus far has been attitude Is everything by Keith Harrill. One of my favorite quotes is from Rocky where he says it’s not about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep on fighting. And I think that quote has everything to do with attitude. Life is gonna knock us down however, if you keep getting back up with a winning attitude, there’s no way you can lose.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a young man in my 20s, I chased the dream of being a hip-hop superstar. However, 12 years into the pursuit I felt like my life hadn’t progressed much and went into a deep depression. That’s actually when I found meditation. Meditation helped me control my thoughts, or at least, let them not control me and started taking step forward to progress in my life. I took the first step and became a life insurance agent and threw that company being around highly successful individuals. He gave me a new outlook on life that dreams are possible to achieve , sometimes you just have to relinquish control over how the dream is going to come to fruition.
