We were lucky to catch up with Bernadette Capozzi recently and have shared our conversation below.

Bernadette, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

The idea for TWIST came to me during a time when I realized how challenging it can be for couples (and friends) to break out of routine and find fresh, exciting ways to spend time together. Planning date nights and adventures was something I always enjoyed, but I saw how stressful it could be for others—juggling time, creativity, and making each experience feel special.

I wanted to solve this problem by offering something different: a way to bring spontaneity, adventure, and mystery into relationships without the stress of planning. That’s how TWIST was born—a fun, stress-free way to enjoy unique date night experiences that keep the excitement alive.

What makes TWIST truly special is the element of surprise. Every date is a mystery, but you’ll always get a good sense of what to expect through three key attributes:

1) The tone and vibe, which sets the overall mood for the date.

2) An image, chosen to spark your curiosity and give a hint of what’s to come.

3) A riddle, adding a playful twist as you try to uncover the details of your upcoming adventure.

Currently, TWIST offers 38 different date night ideas, ranging from cozy at-home experiences to active outings, food & drink adventures, romantic moments, game nights, and even girls’ night fun. TWIST fills the gap for couples and friends who want something meaningful, exciting, and playful, without the hassle of planning it themselves.

That’s when I knew TWIST was more than just a business—it was a way to bring joy, adventure, and closeness back into relationships.

Bernadette, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For my entire career, I worked in the corporate world as a Business Process Engineer. While I thrived on solving complex problems and streamlining processes, I always felt a pull toward something more creative—something that would bring more fun and adventure into people’s lives. That’s when I decided to channel my creativity into something completely new, take a leap of faith, and decided to develop my own business and brand, and TWIST was born.

TWIST solves problems for busy people who face time constraints, don’t enjoy planning dates, or just want to step out of the ordinary and add some excitement to their date nights. Whether it’s couples looking for fresh, memorable experiences or friends wanting a fun night out, TWIST provides pre-planned date night ideas, spontaneous adventures that take the hassle out of the process. Every experience is designed to keep the thrill alive while giving you a break from the stress of planning. It’s about making connection and fun effortless for everyone!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

We’re still relatively new from our launch, so every day is a learning experience. As we continue to grow, we’re always refining how we connect with our audience, improve our services, and create even more exciting, stress-free date nights. The journey so far has been full of valuable insights, and we’re excited for what’s to come!

Additionally, platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest and LinkedIn have played a significant role in reaching new audiences. Through engaging content—whether it’s showcasing mystery date night reveals, fun challenges, or behind-the-scenes planning—social media has allowed us to connect with people who are seeking fresh, creative date ideas. The combination of online visibility and personal referrals has truly helped TWIST grow organically.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

Currently, I’m solely selling my brand, TWIST, on my website through Shopify. However, I’m actively exploring other avenues, including Amazon and Pinterest, to expand the reach and offer more ways for people to discover and experience the unique date night adventures TWIST has to offer.
