We were lucky to catch up with Beny Rabuchin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Beny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission as a mortgage strategist is deeply personal and shaped by my family’s experiences in real estate as well as the lessons I learned from the 2008 financial crisis.
Growing up, I saw my parents lose a home they built, a stark lesson in the unpredictability of the housing market. Later, entering the mortgage industry in 2004, I witnessed many homeowners struggling with poorly understood, risky mortgages during the recession.
These experiences cemented my commitment to guiding clients through the complexities of real estate financing with education and strategic planning. I aim to help them make informed decisions, creating custom plans that suit their financial situations and minimize risk.
For me, this mission goes beyond business; it’s about positively impacting lives and ensuring the financial stability and success of the families I work with.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Embarking on a career in the mortgage industry was not a childhood dream, like aspiring to be a fireman. It’s a path I never could have foreseen, yet, looking back, it seems my exposure to real estate through my family had it subtly ingrained in my DNA. I was the first in my family to attend college, where I explored various subjects before a transformative year abroad in San Sebastian, Spain, shaped my future in unexpected ways. Returning with fluency in Spanish and a degree to match, my career began in media sales at a Spanish radio and television station in Burbank, CA.
However, it was a call from a friend, needing a Spanish-speaking assistant at Countrywide Home Loans, that steered me towards the mortgage realm. Immersing myself in the business, I catered primarily to Spanish-speaking clients, learning the intricacies of mortgages in a language that was not my first. This experience not only honed my professional skills but also deepened my understanding of diverse client needs.
Now, 20 years later, having helped thousands of families achieve homeownership, I realize this has been more than a career; it’s been my calling. My passion lies in creating an unforgettable experience for families, going beyond the transactional nature of mortgages. We delve deep into our clients’ financials, understand their fears and aspirations, and grasp what’s important to them, both in real estate and their broader financial goals. This comprehensive understanding allows us to tailor a path unique to each family. It’s this personalized approach that sets us apart in the mortgage industry.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started using video and social media in 2017 as a means to humanize myself, and build trust through free content focusing on education of real estate and finance. It has allowed me to reach thousands of people I never had access too. People want to test drive before they commit, especially when it comes to talking about your personal finances. Being able to get a feel for how I look and sound, before they call me, makes the actual call so much easier and puts that at ease. Many say, “I feel like I already know you.” Where most people drop the ball when it comes to implementing social media as another pillar in their business is they lack consistency. We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Being I treat my business in a very relational manner, opposed to transactional, I am always looking for ways to bring value to a client even after they buy a home. We do this by implementing several personalized touches throughout the year. This includes annual financial reviews, monthly video market updates keeping them in the loop on the market, video texts on birthdays, etc. The goal being any time they think about real estate, they think of me.
