Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Benedicta Hentsch. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Benedicta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents did most things right. I think the one thing that has kept me going is the constant belief they have in me. They also trust me to make the right decision, which sometimes was frustrating because I wanted an answer, but I think it has made my own will and beliefs stronger.
When I had the option between studying closer to them or moving four thousand miles away, they did not want to give any input on my decision. They wanted it to be mine. They wanted me to “follow my heart” and sometimes it’s hard to find that, especially since I am so close to my three little brothers and my parents, but I felt that moving to the school that was furthest away, was my path. And it was. Everything that has happened since then, has proven to be the right path for me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Benedicta, I moved to the States in 2019 to get a B.A. in Musical Theatre with minors in Communication and Creative Writing. I moved to New York about a year ago and have been working as a content creator for the candy store: BonBon NYC.
It has been life-changing to work for such a beautiful company with inspirational leaders. I’ve worked side-by-side BonBon’s owners, continuing to build their brand image on social media. It’s been a wonderful journey, we even blew up on TikTok which caused a lot more engagement, which was very exciting, but iI wouldn’t be truthful if I didn’t say that it was challenging. We have grown and become so much stronger because of it and continue to learn each day. It has been so heartwarming to see so many others share a love for a brand that I have fallen very fond of.
I was first exposed to BonBon because I grew up in Norway and since it is a Scandinavian confectionery company, I felt right at home from the first day I started. I was familiar with all the products sold. I grew up speaking Norwegian and was surrounded by Danes and Swedes, so I get to interact with most Scandinavian speakers who come in for their sweet treats which always feels extra special! I also engage with Scandis who have questions or comments through BonBon’s social media platforms.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
An important part of building an audience on social media is to consistently create content. It is something that everyone says, but it’s true, the more you expose yourself, the more people will want to engage and follow along. An important part is also to find relatable moments to accentuate, people want to feel seen. And they also want to witness parts of your brand that might not be as evident at first glance.
In my experience, I’ve noticed more engagement when posting something original. Of course, one should follow trends and use popular sounds, but finding ways to create original videos and attempting to start trends are also very important bits of content to make.
Advice that I keep coming back to is “kindness wins,” sometimes social media can be cruel but one must remember that there is never a reason to troll anyone or to engage in hate.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to follow the work that makes me happy. I have been so happy with BonBon and thus have been exposed to inspirational people. I also know that when I do something that I am passionate about, there is nothing that can stop me. I feel that content creation has allowed me to learn every day, especially since social media is a space that moves very fast. I am working with film, photography, editing, and writing which has been creatively fulfilling in so many ways. I believe that the more I keep following passion and creativity, the more I will be on the right track. I am very fortunate to be in the place that I am right now and I foresee myself growing even more in ability and happiness.
