Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ben Ivers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ben, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
A meaningful project to me is one that has the power to evoke emotions and inspire hope through storytelling. I believe that stories have the ability to connect people on a deep level and create positive change in the world.
One project that comes to mind is a recent documentary I‘ve been working on called ‘Limbo.’ This short doc revolves around the theme of rebirth, exploring its significance on both an individual and community level. ‘Limbo’ invites viewers to connect with the personal stories of individuals navigating a community facing decline. The film serves as a reminder that even in the midst of uncertainty, there are opportunities for growth, renewal, and a brighter future.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who are unfamiliar with me – Hi, I’m Ben Ivers. I specialize in video editing and photography, with a primary focus on commercial ads and branded documentaries. Since my childhood, I have been captivated by the magic of video cameras. I can remember playing with my parents’ old DV cam making mini movies with the neighborhood kids. As I grew older, my interest transitioned from filming to editing when I discovered that editing is where the story truly takes shape. This passion has continued throughout my career and has led me to work with brands such as Nike, Marriott Bonvoy, San Disk, Oakley, Google, and Smirnoff.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part about being a creative is the ability to have an impact in the world’s culture. I focus my energy on projects that foster a more inclusive and compassionate world. As a video editor, I have a direct impact on the messaging you receive while you watch the commercial ad or a documentary I edited. I find it incredibly rewarding to be able to own that responsibility and help shape these messages to encourage hope in creating a positive change in the world.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The main goal of my creative journey is to create projects that not only make me proud, but tell stories for a better tomorrow.
