Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ben Feldman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ben, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken in my career was producing The Flash: Test Run, a fan film based on a character I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. The Flash has always fascinated me—not just for his speed, but for the heart and humanity behind the larger-than-life superhero. I wanted to bring my own version of the character to life, one that felt real and grounded. But as anyone in the industry knows, fan films are tricky, especially when you’re starting out without a big following or resources.
I didn’t have the security of a big studio or a pre-existing fanbase behind me, so everything felt like a risk. The stakes were high because this project wasn’t just about showcasing my love for the character—it was about showing people what my team and I were capable of. I knew we had to find creative ways to prove ourselves and convince others to trust in the vision. I had to lean heavily on the passion that drove me to create this film in the first place.
Luckily, I had an amazing cast and crew who believed in the project as much as I did. They really pulled through, and together we made what I now call “the little fan film that could.” Against the odds, we managed to bring this ambitious project to life, and to my surprise, the film started getting recognition. It’s been accepted into multiple film festivals and has even won a few awards. More importantly, fans of The Flash responded positively—they’ve really embraced the film and keep asking for more.
Looking back, I’m so glad I took the risk. Producing The Flash: Test Run pushed me out of my comfort zone and showed me just how much we can accomplish when we’re driven by passion. It was a leap of faith, but one that’s paid off in ways I never expected.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a New York-based actor, singer, writer, and producer originally from Cupertino, California. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been passionate about theater. Growing up, I found myself drawn to the stage, and that love only grew as I got older. One of my formative experiences was working at the Young Actors’ Theatre Camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where I had the opportunity to develop my craft while sharing my love for acting with younger generations.
I earned my BFA in Acting from Syracuse University, and since then, I’ve had the chance to perform in a variety of productions. Some of my favorite roles include playing Jeff in [title of show], Jeremy Jordan in A Killer Party (Virtual Venue Theatrical), and Dylan Clancy in Blurry Face: The Musical (St. Paul’s Theater).
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was writing, producing, and starring in The Flash: Test Run, a fan film based on a character I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. The project has been dubbed “the little fan film that could” and has since been accepted into several film festivals, won awards, and received an outpouring of support from fans who are eager to see more.
Outside of my work, I’m incredibly fortunate to have the support of my amazing wife, who has been by my side through all the ups and downs of this journey. Her love and encouragement have made all the difference in both my personal and professional life.
Have you ever had to pivot?
During the pandemic, I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life: pivoting from being a full-time actor to a part-time one. I’ve wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember. It’s what I lived and breathed, what I studied, and what I always saw myself doing. But the uncertainty and instability brought on by the pandemic forced me to reassess my priorities. It wasn’t an easy choice, and it felt like I was letting go of a dream I had held onto my entire life.
At that point, stability became crucial, and taking on a more secure job felt like the right decision, even if it meant stepping back from acting full-time. It was tough because acting wasn’t just a career to me—it was my identity. But this pivot was necessary, and I had to accept that it was a justified option, especially given the times we were living in.
That said, I’ve never completely stepped away from the arts. I still try to keep performing arts and creativity in my life as much as I can. Whether it’s writing, producing small projects like The Flash: Test Run, or finding time for acting gigs on the side, I’ve learned how to balance my passion with the practicalities of life. While it’s different from the full-time acting career I envisioned, it’s allowed me to stay connected to what I love while also prioritizing stability.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
One of the best pieces of advice I can give about social media is to not be afraid to reach out to people. I’ve talked to a lot of successful creatives, and one common thing I’ve noticed is how open they are to networking and offering advice. Don’t hesitate to send a message or comment on someone’s work—you’d be surprised how many people are willing to connect, collaborate, or offer guidance. Social media is a tool, but it’s also a platform to build genuine relationships.
Another important thing is to make sure you have plenty of content to post. Consistency is key, but what matters even more is that your content shows who you truly are. Authenticity resonates. Whether you’re showcasing your creative work, behind-the-scenes moments, or just snippets of your life, make sure it reflects you. People can tell when something’s genuine, and that’s what draws them in.
I’ve also been fortunate to get some great advice from my wife, who is a publicist
