We were lucky to catch up with Ben Bryant recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ben, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
I could share all sorts of stories about helping people love their yards again. Instead of telling you myself I’ll let Chad, one of our maintenance clients, tell you for himself. We recently had the pleasure of helping him with getting his pond restarted for the year, help him with monthly care checks, and even help him with upgrading his pond with some koi and colored lights! Here’s what he said:

Ben, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the proud owner of Superior Ponds here in Minnesota. If there are four things that define me, it’s my faith, my family, my love for all things Minnesota, and my passion for water. Our state is blessed with an abundance of lakes, but not everyone has easy or private access to them. My mission is to bring the soothing tranquility of water right into everyones backyard with a custom water feature. After all, Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes—why not add a pond or two?
My journey into the world of ponds started as a hobby, fueled by a childhood love of aquariums and fish. What began as a casual interest has blossomed into a full-blown passion—it’s truly a dream job. If you follow my social media channels and watch my videos, you know how much I love my own pond. I spend countless hours in my private oasis, watching my fish, tending to the plants, reading a good book, dipping my feet in the water, and just relaxing to the sound of the flowing water. I could talk about it all day!
Simply put, I’m passionate about what I do, and I’m thrilled at the chance to help everyone else fall in love with their backyard again. Because that’s what I do, connect people to water the way nature intended!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What do I think helped build my reputation in the market? Honestly, it all started when I was a one-man operation with no team and limited resources. I turned to what was freely available—social media. I focused on sharing what I truly love: educating people about our local ecosystems, showing them how to build their own fountains and waterfalls and ponds, and encouraging them to reconnect with nature. My goal has always been to help people experience the transformative lifestyle that comes with living alongside water.
Whether they choose to hire me or take the DIY route doesn’t matter as much to me. I just want them to enjoy the benefits of having running water right outside their door. Once you have that, you can never go back! By using social media to educate and share my passion, I was able to connect with others who wanted the same experience but preferred to hire someone to handle the hard work. That’s where I came in, and it’s been incredibly rewarding.
As my business has grown, it’s surreal to be recognized in public as “the pond guy.” I’ve even had strangers ask for pictures! Just recently I was passing through Chicago and someone recognized me as “the guy on the stool” from my year-long educational series featuring me on, you guessed it, a stool in my office. That series has covered the 104 most common questions I’ve been asked as a pond contractor, and it’s amazing to see how far-reaching it’s become.
In the end, I believe my reputation has been built on a genuine love for what I do, a commitment to educating others, and a desire to share the joys of living with water. Social media is a powerful tool to get that message out.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
To keep in touch with our clients and foster brand loyalty, we focus on consistent communication and personalized service. We send out weekly newsletters that feature our latest blog articles, offering educational content on pond care, maintenance tips, advice on caring for water features and fish, and more
In addition to this, we perform warranty checks on all our work and maintain regularly scheduled follow-ups with our clients. For those who use our maintenance services, we provide weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly care check services to ensure everything is running smoothly. Sometimes, if we’re in the neighborhood, we’ll stop by just to check on things and see how your system is doing—because we genuinely care about your experience.
We also stay engaged with our clients through social media, where we post weekly challenges, “This or That” polls, and actively participate in the comment sections where we’re always happy to answer questions. This ongoing interaction helps us build lasting relationships and ensures that our clients always feel connected and supported.
