Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Belle Teria. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Belle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful, it takes dedication, communication, and embracing failure.
When things get complicated, you must maintain your composure and stick to your plan. Stay dedicated to your goals and have faith in your plan.
Communication is vital as it helps your peers clearly understand who you are and what you can provide. In wedding planning, you communicate with everyone from the bride and bridal party to vendors. Learning to convey your message effectively is essential, showing that you are professional and personable.
Failure happens, but it does not have to be the end. Every failure contains a lesson, and those lessons allow you to grow. Failure is like fertilizer for success; if not applied correctly, it can destroy your business. If applied properly, your business will thrive, grow and flourish.

Belle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Belle Teria, entrepreneur and owner of Modishly Events. Modishly Events is a luxury wedding and event planner where we ensure our clients the most amazing experience on their special day.
Modishly Events provides Full and Partial planning services, Month or Day of coordination services for weddings, bridal shower planning, and much more.
Hmmm, how did I get into this industry?! I have always been behind the scenes in event planning. I started working at stars and strikes as an event host, hosting children and corporate parties. There I learned the skills and techniques of organization, problem-solving, and entertainment.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was being selective in receiving advice and new information from different sources. A lot of times we will walk into a room with those who have more experience than us and will feel the need to show them that we have as much knowledge as they do, but in reality, we don’t. The backstory to this is one time I had to shadow personnel (when I was working in the medical field), and she was teaching me a certain skill. Me being the person I was decided to jump in and said the wrong thing trying to beat her at her sentence, and was completely wrong. Talking about a backward moment. WHEW!! From then on, any time I’m in a room with knowledge and wisdom, my entire mindset is “I don’t know nothing.”
The moral of the story is to be humble and always give yourself room to learn and grow.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Strategies I use to keep clientele are attending trade shows, posting engaging content on social media, and collaborating with different vendors and those in the industry.
Depending on your line of business, they are a lot of trade shows you can attend. I attend bridal shows. This put me in front of thousands of soon-to-be brides. From the setup to your attire, this is what will attract your audience. Once this is achieved, I bring my knowledge and support to potential clients.
One of the most effective strategies everyone uses is posting to social media. Social Media is a digital resume that shows your skills and abilities. It is the first thing everyone asks for when inquiring about your business. They want to see the beauty of your brand.
Meeting and collaborating with others in the industry is one of the best thing you can do to help grow clientele. This is almost like your word-of-mouth strategy. Meet people, learn what they do, and how it can benefit you best. Sometimes I meet people just because you never know where it can take you later.
