We recently connected with Belle Grubb and have shared our conversation below.
Belle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I used to view failure as the worst thing that could happen to a person, but as I have grown my own brand and podcast, I have learned that failure is one of the best things that can happen. If I had never failed at the first podcast that I started during my freshman year of college, I would have become burnt out and constantly created content that was not desired by my audience.
When I created that initial podcast, I was in the midst of moving across the country and starting my undergrad degree. I would write pages of script for each episode and then did not know how to edit or market the episode after it was recorded. After a few months of exhaustion and inconsistency, I decided to end that podcast and spend some time learning what I should be doing better. I took a few marketing classes and researched microphones and free editing systems. I also started listening to successful podcasts every day, something that I had not done before. Once I finished my Master’s degree, I had a knowledge base as well as a “failed” experience to create the foundation of my current, successful podcast, Inspired Lady.
There is so much value in jumping into a project, failing, and recognizing what you need to learn and invest in so that you can create content that your audience will love and you will be proud of!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Belle Grubb and I currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas with my husband. I have lived a very fun and fast lifestyle; at the age of 21, I have my Master’s degree, traveled to over 20 countries, just finished building my dream home, have been married for 2 years, have no debt, and host the successful podcast Inspired Lady. God has blessed me with such a beautiful life and the passion to inspire those around me to live the life that they have been called to. So many times, people have asked how I stay motivated and keep moving forward. This is ultimately what started my passion for Inspired Lady and sharing how to balance hardwood with reliance on Jesus. There is such a limited time we have in life and I want to fill my days with amazing relationships, exciting experiences, and creating the best life that I can that ultimately honors God. Inspired Lady exists to equip women who have similar ambitions with the tools they need to take care of their bodies, grow their minds, and strengthen their relationships with God and others!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
For a podcast, there are SO many free and easy resources that I use, as well as a few paid options. Here are all my secrets:
-For a microphone, I use SHURE. They are a little pricier but have the best quality without a doubt. I have tried around 5 others and SHURE is the way to go.
-Anchor by Spotify is FREE and allows you to upload your podcast to all major platforms including Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and Google. This is essential to starting a podcast.
-Canva is how I handle all my graphics for the posts I do for @inspiredladyshow
-Riverside is where I record my podcasts. They have free and paid options and acts like Zoom for podcasters. It is easy to invite guests on there or just record your own video episodes with a lot of amazing features
PRO TIP: I use my Canon camera as a webcam (just downloaded free software on their website) and then upload the episodes to Youtube to further my audience!
-I use Clipchamp to edit my videos, add in royalty-free music, and download the files before I upload to Youtube and Anchor.
There are even MORE details I have so feel free to DM the Inspired Lady Instagram account for more resources!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Ultimately, my goal is that people are able to listen to the podcast every Wednesday and leave not just feeling inspired, but equipped with the next steps they can take to further their dreams and calling. From fitness to financial to daily habits, people are able to learn more practical tips and get amazing advice from some incredible women on how they can show up as their best selves consistently.
