Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bella Bucchiotti. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bella , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I started xoxoBella in 2015 while I was still in high school as a food blog to share my favorite recipes and outfits with friends and family. It was popular to name your blog with things you liked at that time. For example, I was considering Tulle & Cookies. However, my mom suggested I pick a blog name to grow with me and my changing interests.
We landed on xoxoBella, and yes, my blog name has worked well as I added travel content, crafts, pets, and more. It represents everything that I enjoy and am passionate about.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
xoxoBella is your go-to for stress-free, family-friendly cooking with easy recipes for weeknight dinners and festive feasts since 2015. Every week, several new recipes are added that appeal to foodies everywhere. On xoxoBella, you can also discover wanderlust-inducing travel adventures and take a glimpse into sustainability, pets, crafts, and more.
Ad revenue on xoxoBella is a consistent source of income, but that is only half of the business.
On social media, @BellaBucchiotti (Instagram and YouTube) and @Bucchiotti (TikTok) showcase photos and videos featuring outdoor adventures from travel and life in the Pacific Northwest. Campaigns with destinations and brands are the other half of the business on these platforms.
Having two sources of income has provided redundancy through Google updates that impacted blog pageviews and the pandemic, which saw brands cut back on social media campaigns.
This past year, I have a new focus on adding freelance writing for the Associated Press Wire and syndicating my blog content on MSN. It has taken my company in a whole new direction, helping to build my authority on topics I am passionate about and adding a third source of revenue to my business.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a social media content creator and meeting other creatives through trips and collaborations is the incredible connections and friendships made around the world.
Working on your own can sometimes feel isolating, but connecting with and learning from other talented individuals is truly amazing. It’s inspiring to see different perspectives and styles, and the support and camaraderie within the creative community is something really special.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Before the pandemic, my blog and social media focused on adventure travel. I returned from a Caribbean campaign, and the world jumped into lockdown. Needless to say, travel campaigns completely stopped, and social media campaigns in general were scarce due to all that was happening worldwide.
Fortunately, with two income streams, I could focus more on my blog and recipes. With everyone home cooking, there were so many opportunities to grow your food blog. With time to focus on my blog, I spent a year updating it completely and doubling the amount of content.
