We were lucky to catch up with Bella Baez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bella , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
Earning my first dollars as a creative was an unforgettable moment for me. It was more than just earning money; it symbolized the recognition and appreciation of my art and talents. This initial earning, whether from a DJ gig, a performance, or a modeling job, wasn’t just a paycheck – it was a validation of my creative journey. It marked a key turning point, reinforcing my belief in my artistic path and spurring me on to further explore and develop my craft.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Music entered my life in 2020, during a period filled with life’s challenges. It became my sanctuary, teaching me that through music, anything is possible. It was not just a coping mechanism, but a source of hope and inspiration, urging me to delve deeper into the world of DJing. Although my initial interest in DJing sparked at age 15, a lack of confidence, particularly in a male-dominated field, held me back. However, the passing of my brother in 2022 profoundly changed my perspective and motivated me to fully embrace music.
My DJ debut in Los Angeles at the Soho House was a pivotal moment. Witnessing the crowd dance to my music and seeing the joy it brought confirmed I was on the right path. This experience solidified my belief in my multifaceted identity as a DJ, model, and actress, intertwining these passions into a unique and fulfilling career.
I’m most proud of my ability to inspire others. Whether it’s through a high-energy DJ set, a compelling performance on screen, or a striking pose in front of the camera, my goal is to leave a lasting impact. For potential clients, fans, and followers, I want them to see me not just as a performer, but as a source of inspiration and a symbol of dedication and hard work.
Above all, my brand stands for creativity, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of dreams. I’m constantly evolving and exploring new opportunities to express my artistry. To anyone engaging with my work, I want to convey a message of empowerment and the importance of following your passions, no matter how diverse they may be.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The greatest reward in being an artist, for me, lies in the power to connect with and inspire people. My journey through music, acting, and modeling allows me to touch lives, stir emotions, and inspire viewers to perceive the world in varied hues. The real fulfillment comes from witnessing how my work impacts others—be it spreading happiness, providing comfort, or motivating someone to chase their dreams. It’s more than self-expression; it’s about forging experiences that deeply resonate with my audience. The exchange of positive energy, feeling it flow from me to the crowd and back, is a magical aspect of my artistic path.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Sure thing! In 2022, my life took a couple of hard turns. First, I lost my little brother, a blow that knocked the wind out of me. Then, as if fate hadn’t spun me around enough, I got attacked by a homeless guy in Marina del Rey. You hear these stories about random assaults in LA, but you never think it’s going to happen to you—until it does. That period was the absolute pits for me. I was already drowning in grief from my brother’s loss, and then to be physically hurt on top of that? It felt like I had hit rock bottom, with no clue how to climb back up.
