We were lucky to catch up with BeeLax recently and have shared our conversation below.
BeeLax , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
As a business owner of a record label, rental property and CBD store I am learning that working on things that you are passionate about is more rewarding than working for a company that you don’t own. In the past, I have worked multiple jobs while being an entrepreneur and it isn’t easy. You lose motivation to do things you enjoy due to exhaustion from working a 9-5 but you must stay motivated. If you give your all to someone else and make them richer, you deserve that same respect for your craft. I believe I can do it all. My 9-5 jobs paid for my investments in some way and I learned how to run a company so one day I could run my own. You have to observe strengths and opportunities of growth in every circumstance. In today’s world, corporate America doesn’t pay enough but requires you to spend the majority of your time at their establishments. I truly believe it’s not fair. Cost of living is only rising, so for my businesses I will be hiring motivated workers and paying them an adequate amount for their talent and effort. The people deserve it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I always had a passion for music ever since I was a little girl. My inspirations are Aaliyah, and Missy Elliot. I am a playmaker by heart, I love putting things together for the final result to be successful. Music is perfect for me in that way. I produce music, I write music and put creatives together to create. Music will always be my favorite creation which is why i started my record label Top Floor Forever which is split into two sectors Production and management. We have worked with major names in the industry such as Bleu, Ray Moon, 3xBravo, and Chiae. Making money is fun when you have the right formulas working for you. Passive income is a great tool that works for me. I am a landlord meaning I own two rental properties that grants me the ability to receive passive income without putting in a lot of effort. I am now a new owner of a CBD business opening in fall 2022. As a woman in a male dominant industry, I want to inspire the little girls under me to go for what drives you the most. Your happiness, your mental and spirit is key. Don’t let anything or anyone get in the way of following your dreams or passion. It’s going to be a lot of obstacles but to whom much is given much is required.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being resilient is easier said than done. In July of 2020 during the pandemic I was experiencing lower stomach pain for weeks and didn’t know why. It wasn’t a familiar pain like cramps so I went to the doctor and found out that I had severe endometriosis, cyst and fibroids on my ovaries and uterus. With all the pain I was experiencing and hormonal unbalance issues I still went to work everyday, studio sessions, and meetings to make deals happen. I still had to push through then finally I was able to get surgery to remove the issues I was having and I have been recovering ever since January 2022.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My advice on managing a team is to lead by example, work hard and listen to your team. It’s so many people in leadership roles who don’t have a clue on how to lead a team. Also give your team incentives when they’re doing good, that will motivate them to do more.
