Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bee Sucia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
It all started when my mom bought me a Polaroid i-Zone Pocket Camera for my 11th birthday. I almost instantly fell in love with taking pictures of everything. It was like being able to capture a moment in time to keep forever. That all evolved to where I am now, a digital and analog photographer completely fluent in photo manipulation programs. I think if I would’ve stuck with photography through out my early school education instead of jumping from medium to medium, I would’ve probably mastered my skill a lot sooner. Although, working in different kinds of art mediums helped refine my photography skills so it’s almost like a win win situation. The most essential skills I believe one should have to pursue a career in photography are being able to create an interesting composition, having reliable equipment, and being able to network. Everything else will just fall into place. My major obstacle when starting out was not putting in enough time to learn everything outside of just clicking a button to take a picture. Once I finally sat down to watch endless hours of YouTube on how to do certain editing, I was able to refine and personalize images for clients per their requests.

Bee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Luckily for me, my craft started off as a hobby when I was really young, so I was able to learn the ins-and-outs of photography before I decided to pursue it as a career. I was given the opportunity to showcase my work using social media outlets which then allowed me to create a network of clients who admired my work and also inspire me. I provide the ability to take a clients vision and turn it into reality that exceeds their expectations. I also help clients step out of their comfort zone when it comes to being in front of a camera. Not everyone feels like they are a super model, it’s my job to bring that out of them and show them what they can really do. Mostly, I am proud of all of the influential friends and business partners I’ve made through out my journey as well as all of the knowledge I’ve acquired since picking up my first camera.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main mission is to give a visual platform to those who have something to present. Be it a music cover for someone’s first single release, designer showcasing their first collection, to a mother doing a maternity shoot for her first born child. I love working with clients, coming together to create something in unison that will blow people’s minds. I am driven by my personal influences as well as my drive to put my talents out there.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I am rewarded daily by being able to express myself in this medium. Photography has been a huge factor in my life that has single handedly given me an outlet for my creativity.
