We were lucky to catch up with Becky Madson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Becky , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I may not have come up with the idea of bridal hair and makeup, but my inspiration for Til’ Death Bridal Beauty are special to me. I am 1st generation Salvadorian American. Growing up in Colorado there wasn’t a lot of representation. I remember the first time as a family experiencing it. My family was planning my sisters Quincenera, I remember a lot of vendors learning for the first time what that is. I didn’t realize how much of an impact this would be. Fast forward to a few years in the industry I thought a lot of my family experiences and realized it was not only special but important to me to be part of wedding celebrations of other cultures, backgrounds, lifestyles, etc. Til’ Death Bridal Beauty prides itself to be a safe space for those who come from different places in life and I am honored to help in the celebration of their love, culture, and style.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello! My name is Becky, I am the founder of Til’ Death Bridal Beauty. I specialize in bridal hair and makeup artistry. I have always known I wanted to be a beauty artist and always had a passion for bridal styles. What I really want my brides to know about me and the values of Til Death Bridal Beauty is that we are a safe space for all. Regardless of what you look like, or who you love. I am here to help you celebrate your love in your style.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Yes. I worked in a full service salon right out of beauty school. Whilst learning how to do everything in the salon from color to extensions my true passion arose when I started learning bridal hair and weddings. I fell in love with the flexibility and travel, the ability to be included in some ones special day and so much more. Shortly after starting at this salon I learned my husband and I were expecting our first. It was a very exciting time. I had left the salon to have my son and pursue bridal full time. The industry has all around been everything I’ve dreamed of and more.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I was in beauty school my educators told me only styling hair and doing makeup isn’t possible. I had to work in a salon and my clients who just so happened to need an updo for a special occasion would then have me style their hair and may be do their makeup as well. It was very discouraging that I had a future in mind for myself and not only was it already being shut down before I entered the industry but it was being discouraged by the people who I was learning from and looked up to. I finished my schooling but I never lost the idea of one day doing wedding artistry and devoting my career to the bridal beauty.
